About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Saint Albans, VT, nurtures a new generation of advocates dedicated to creating a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Through an immersive six-month program at the picturesque Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows receive comprehensive training in organic food systems, empowering them to champion sustainable practices in their communities. This fellowship is designed to enhance accessibility by not charging tuition, allowing Fellows to engage in vital initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, maintaining school and community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational programs. Participants also support local farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer efforts, while developing distribution channels for healthier food access. After completing their training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their knowledge and make meaningful contributions to local food systems. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
