Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC)

Vermont Department of Health South Hero, VT

About Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC)

The Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC) in South Hero, VT, is dedicated to supporting low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, along with infants and children up to five years old, by fostering healthy food habits. Our mission is to enhance nutrition through comprehensive nutrition education, providing supplemental foods tailored to the needs of families, and promoting breastfeeding. WIC also facilitates essential referrals for health care services, ensuring that our participants receive the holistic support they deserve. In light of recent challenges, including difficulties in accessing certain food items, we have temporarily expanded our food list to include alternatives for those hard-to-find products, and we are actively collaborating with stores to maintain availability of WIC-approved infant formula. While our services are currently being conducted by phone for safety during COVID-19, we remain eager to assist families in navigating their nutritional needs effectively.
