About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Starksboro, Vermont, is dedicated to cultivating leaders who are passionate about creating a fair, sustainable, and vibrant food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique program offers comprehensive training and hands-on education about organic farming, food justice, and ecological literacy. Our Fellows engage in vital community initiatives, which may include growing and distributing diverse crops, managing school and community gardens, and developing food distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods. Throughout their six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants are equipped to implement innovative health care education and support farmers markets as well as direct-to-consumer programs. Following their fellowship, they embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profits to apply their knowledge and advocacy efforts, ensuring a lasting impact in their communities. We invite aspiring advocates to apply by March for the enriching experience that typically runs from May to October.
