Allegheny Mountain Institute (AMI) Banner, WY

About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Banner, WY, cultivates a new generation of advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this dynamic program eliminates tuition to ensure accessibility for all aspiring Farmers and Food Systems Fellows. During a six-month immersive residency at the Allegheny Farm, participants receive hands-on training in organic food system education and may collaborate with local partners to grow diverse crops, maintain community gardens, and implement educational health initiatives. By promoting food and ecological literacy within schools and supporting farmers markets, Fellows enhance access to nutritious foods while engaging in community food coalition activities. Following their residency, they embark on a Community Action Year, bringing their skills to life through partnerships with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March, and the Fellowship generally runs from May to October, creating profound opportunities for impactful change in local food systems.
