About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kaycee, WY, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of food system advocates by providing comprehensive, hands-on training in organic food systems. This fellowship, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, empowers selected Fellows to champion a just food system that prioritizes social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic viability. Over the course of six months at the picturesque Allegheny Farm Campus, participants gain invaluable experience in growing diverse crops, running educational sessions for innovative healthcare, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. Additionally, Fellows engage in dynamic initiatives supporting farmers' markets and direct-to-consumer programs, fostering increased access to healthy food in the community. Following their immersive training, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to put their skills into practice. Applications are welcome until March each year, with the program running from May to October, ensuring that those passionate about food assistance and sustainable systems can actively contribute to improving local food accessibility.
