The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Wright, WY, is dedicated to cultivating leaders who advocate for a fair, sustainable, and healthy food system. This unique program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, empowers selected Fellows with comprehensive organic food system education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, at no cost to participants, ensuring accessibility. Throughout the Fellowship, participants engage in hands-on experiences that include growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing innovative health care educational sessions, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. Our Fellows also play a vital role in supporting farmers markets, developing food distribution channels, and participating in community food coalitions. The Fellowship not only nurtures a passion for the food movement but also equips participants to mentor future cohorts. Each Fellow's journey begins with an immersive six-month residency followed by a Community Action Year, where they apply their knowledge in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship experience typically running from May to October.
