Yes, its also very common with anxiety. You should try grounding techniques, its a means of getting out of that detachment and accepting that you are here and that everything is still happening around you.

For a long time i felt extremely unattached from reality. Depression and anxiety caused this in me, It is very hard to get out of if you've been feeling that for a long time. With motivation, determination, coping skills, etc. It can be overcomed.

Yes I do. Sometimes, I just feel that I am not made to be here. It's rough. I lose concentration and stare in the blank space trying to catch up with my past, and the reality just stops.

I’ve been feeling like that a lot lately, I don’t know what’s triggered it because I haven’t felt like this in a long time. I think it’s the depression and anxiety doing it for me, but it makes me feel like I’m going insane and I hate it

Yes I do! All the time. Actually right now I do. Its really hard to feel that way. I try different things to bring myself back. Like changing my environment to somewhere I have never been before really helps.

Yes, sometimes. I personally have an alternate personality, and when she is in complete control, I feel like I am in a coma- so barely feeling at all. Detached describes it well. Waking back up can be a slow, difficult process.

I have. Sometimes I'll sit down after washing the dishes and I'd space out until I can't feel my fingers. There's probably another word for that kind of experience, but yeah. I do.

Yes it can happen especially when you happen to encounter a sad or traumatic event and can lead you to dissociate yourself from reality.

Yes, especially when reality bites. Sometimes it is better to just look away and try to imagine yourself in a far away land where heartaches, depression, anxiety, physical pains and anguish do not exist.

I do, it normally happens during a depressive episode or after an anxiety attack. Sometimes it'll happen for no reason, but it seems to be connected to overwhelming emotional experiences

Yes of course, I think we all experience this at some point in our lives. It's how we deal with that that's important.

Absolutely I feel detached from reality at times. I dissociate, and it can feel like an intense daydream, or like that reality is in the present. When this happens, I have to get space. That can be so frustrating for me. I want to connect and be around people, and when I am not feeling attached to myself and to the present, it is not possible to do. Cold water, whether drinking or splashing my face, helps. I thought dissociating was only for soldiers with PTSD. That is not true, though. PTSD can look different to a lot of people.
