Perhaps because he does not love you to the same extent that you love him. Logically we understand that you can not force someone to love you, however emotionally we believe that if we love someone enough, they will and should love us back. In this case, you may need some time to process and grieve that this man does not love you back at this moment of time. The next step would be to consider what you should do in such a situation.

Another thought is that this man is not perfect, just like anyone else. This is where i think your intuition comes to play to make a judgement. Whatever the reason behind is, it is your judgment call. If you think this does not help you in anyways at this stage, you should choose to end the relationship. Most importantly, i think you should talk about this to the man. If neither of ending nor talking are possible, this may be a good opportunity to forgive the person so that you can leave the hard feelings behind and move on with greater things in your life.
