Communication is an important factor of a relationship, limiting communication or acting against it in a sense of pride may not always be the best option. Because the lack of communication often leads to misunderstandings, for example in this case your partner may have a different view of how you are feeling right now, he may be thinking that you want your space and that you'll come back when you are feeling better, and you in this case are feeling the opposite, you want to be called, so it's good to communicate and express how we are feeling because it's very hard for any partner to figure out how the other person is feeling without even been able to physically see the other person.

In knowing that our priorities change all the time, if that's what he's truly seeking, then there is really nothing you can do. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean that your love wasn't true, it just means that he finds that the best thing for his life right now is for you to move separate ways. Such experience will obviously be painful since it has been a long journey side by side, but assuming he his honest about this, the way to honor the love you have for each other is to let them go.
