I have done this before. Personally the teacher felt guilt for not being able to recognize that there was something wrong... I just assured her that I am doing better now. She told me how she wished she knew so she could have tried to help. She was very devastated. She joked around so much on sensitive topics for me, so she apologized. I assured her that its alright and I am doing better. She wanted to talk to my family about it... I personally was not comfortable with that. Telling your middle school teacher what happened when you were in going through tough times usually wont end bad! :)

Teachers are often happy to listen. I encourage you to talk to them. Teachers are good listeners and care about their students usually. Do you have a favorite teacher? I have relied on my teacher recently for a lot of help and discussion. Some teachers are very receptive to this. If your first choice is not, try another one. I still remember my teachers from grade school. Some had a great impact on me. Some I am still friends with. The best teachers stand out.
