ADHD life with anxiety and medications

...See more So, I have noticed, mostly my days are good when I eat right, exercise regularly and take medication timely. However, as someone with adhd and anxiety, if I have a flare up of anxiety (almost panic state) generally afternoon, my medications work against me and this results in super anxiety and I do not like it all and I cannot undo my medications I consumed for the day which I know does heighten my anxiety when an episode comes on. I've tried drinking orange juice but I don't like the feeling I get when it happens. I do engage in therapy and I am trying to combat this with some CBT as now, I am trying to minimise the thought that the medications will hijack my anxiety for the worse. It's that vicious cycle. On the flip side, overall, there's an improvement in many aspects of my life from ADHD therapy, medication and self awareness. Not asking for a quick fix, but suggestions and strategies for my tool kit would be great? Thanks 👍🏼

Nostalgia 🤓 What decade do you have fond memories of?

...See more I often remenicse when I was a child, born and growing up through the 80s how innocent and carefree everything was. Ice-cream trucks jingling down the road, running barefoot or in HangTen thongs (flops) on a dry hot day that was bearable, playing outside almost everyday with the kids in the street or clan of cousins on a Sunday at our grandparents house, playing matchbox cars and green plastic toy soldiers in the backyard and sandpit, loving art class and mixing all the colours to make new colours, feeling as though I was the one who invented purple, orange and green! A few coins was all you needed to get a paper bag full of lollies from the local milkbar... and walking back home with your siblings laughing, arguing and racing to the front door that was more often than not, left unlocked. Safer times. Joyful times. Oh and the music, let's not forget the music (electro-synth-pop)... still love it everyday, the 80s! 🍬🤠📼💾📺🌞🍦

ADHD medication script delays concerns

...See more Hi all, I started ADHD medication early last year, and it was introduced gradually. I was prescribed a low dose of Vyvanse in the early morning, followed by dexamphetamine twice morning and late noon to curb the crash. This combination has worked really well for me over the past few months. However, over the Christmas/holiday period my script was due for renewal. Unfortunately, my GP (who was the new prescriber) was away, and when I saw them again I was told I’d need to go back to my original psychiatrist due to authority permit issues. I’ve emailed and phoned my psychiatrist’s clinic multiple times, but admin staff have only said they’ll pass on my message and get back to me — which hasn’t happened yet. It’s now been almost three weeks since I had to stop dexamphetamine abruptly. In the first couple of weeks, I experienced noticeable mood dips, fatigue, irritability, fluctuating anxiety, and some sleep disruption. I’m still taking my morning Vyvanse, which does provide support early morning, but I honestly feel like I’m running on half a tank most days now. Is it normal to feel this way given the sudden change in medication? And with my next psychiatrist appointment still a while away, do I just have to ride this out until then? I hope this isn't a common occurrence for us neurodivergent humans. Thanks everyone 🙂

ADHD impulsivity and medications

...See more Hi I am a male mature adult diagnosed late with ADHD prescribed medications early last year gradually, vyvanse and dexamphetamine. Learning about ADHD, medications and symptoms and recognising is quite intense. I realised even though I take my medications which help significantly with mood regulation, motivation, focus, and being able to actually wake up ready for my day with goals.... I'm still impulsive. For example, when I message family, or friends, work colleagues and previous partners or using dating apps, I often get told I jump the gun, give too much information overshare, and I noticed when boredom strikes it's heightened. I don't mind my family and friends as they understand me well despite that it annoys them, but I thought I was mindful and aware with other people and environments but I just forget and continue my previous patterns. The difference is, I am more forgiving of myself, I realise mostly after it's happened, I try not to blame, but thought medications may have helped with this aspect of my life. I found this app so I thought I'd send this to see if anyone else can relate or suggest things? Thanks 👍🏼 first time user her 🤠
