ADHD life with anxiety and medications
So, I have noticed, mostly my days are good when I eat right, exercise regularly and take medication timely. However, as someone with adhd and anxiety, if I have a flare up of anxiety (almost panic state) generally afternoon, my medications work against me and this results in super anxiety and I do not like it all and I cannot undo my medications I consumed for the day which I know does heighten my anxiety when an episode comes on. I've tried drinking orange juice but I don't like the feeling I get when it happens. I do engage in therapy and I am trying to combat this with some CBT as now, I am trying to minimise the thought that the medications will hijack my anxiety for the worse. It's that vicious cycle. On the flip side, overall, there's an improvement in many aspects of my life from ADHD therapy, medication and self awareness. Not asking for a quick fix, but suggestions and strategies for my tool kit would be great? Thanks 👍🏼
Are you sure you’re on the right medications? I would consult your doctor as soon as possible. This is really tough, and I can hear in your voice how much pain you are experiencing. Take some deep relaxing breaths and just drink some water or tea. I’m here for you if you need someone to talk to; just know that you’re not alone in the world.
Thanks. I'm consulting my healthcare professional next week. I have researched and found out that medications are great in many other areas but may not be the best dose in other settings which I did not know. Larger social settings with lots of conversations make it difficult and increase anxiety so I know I do not want to experience that. Thanks for checking in it's nice and caring of you.
