Bio

Hi there! I'm Angelanj 😇(she/her), a third-year psychology student who is passionate about understanding and helping others. I believe in the power of a listening ear. Sometimes life throws curveballs, and it's wonderful to have a safe space to vent, share, or simply be heard.

I'm here to offer you that space, a safe zone to vent, celebrate, or simply be heard without judgment. Whether you're navigating a life challenge, need a sounding board for a new idea, or just want to chat about that amazing book you just finished, I'm your person!

Just a heads up: Between being a full-time student, and managing my own personal life, I can get busy and I may not respond quickly all the time. But know that your message truly matters. If my response takes a little longer, rest assured it's not because I don't care. I will try to reply to messages as fast as I can. If I haven't replied in quite a while and you really need a listening ear, try connecting with another one of the lovely listeners here on 7cups. 🫂💞

Let's talk openly and honestly. I'm here to listen without judgment, and offer support in any way I can. It's okay not to be okay, and together, we can navigate those tough times a little bit easier.

Here are some fun facts about me! :

🌸 I love the colors pink and purple! 💜💗

🌸 I love music!

🌸 When I'm not stressing over school I love to curl up with a good book! (Especially if it's romance 💒💖)

🌸 I love to watch movies an tv shows. Right now I'm currently watching Grey's anatomy!

🌸 My MBTI personality type is INFP

🌸 My zodiac sign is Scorpio ♏ 🦂 💗

🌸 My goal is to become a psychiatrist or psychologist someday! I'm fascinated by how our thoughts and experiences shape us.

Welcome to June: A Month for Riding the Waves of Wellbeing 🌊💙

June 14th
...See more "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf." – Jon Kabin-Zinn 🌊 Welcome to June everyone! Whether you are a newcomer to the community or have been surfing alongside us for a while, your presence here matters. Every urge you face, every wave you try to ride, every time you reach out instead of acting that is courage. We are so happy to have you be a part of our community! This Month's Highlight : World Wellbeing Week (June 24th-30th) : A global celebration of all the things that make up a healthy, happy life, from mental and emotional health to physical and social wellbeing. This Month's Activity : Ride the Wave with Urge Surfing 🌊 (Activity Sheet Source : Pinterest) This month, we invite you to practice Urge Surfing whenever you notice a strong urge. Here's a quick guide to get you started: How to Practice Urge Surfing: How to Practice Urge Surfing: * Acknowledge – Notice and name the urge without judgment. "I am having an urge to cry right now." * Observe – Pay attention to the thoughts and physical feelings in your body. Don't try to change or push them away. Some discomfort is normal. * Remind yourself – Say these truths out loud or in your head: * It is okay to have urges. They are natural reactions. * An urge is a feeling, not a "must." I can feel this and choose not to act. * Some discomfort is okay. * This urge is temporary. Like any feeling, it will pass. * Ride it out – Breathe deeply and imagine the urge as a wave. Watch it build, crest, and fade.  Other Skills to Help You Surf: * Manage Triggers: Know your personal triggers ahead of time. Have a strategy ready (e.g., deep breathing for stress, leaving a high-risk location). * Delay & Distract: Do something to take your mind off the urge for even one minute. Every minute you delay weakens the urge. Try a walk, music, a call with a friend, or a hobby. A Key Message for World Wellbeing Week: Wellbeing is not a destination. It is a practice. Some days, wellbeing looks like a long walk and a healthy meal. Other days, it looks like allowing yourself to cry, or simply surviving the hour without giving in to an urge. Both days are worthy. Resources for When the Wave Feels Too High If you are struggling with strong urges, thoughts of self-harm, or a crisis, please reach out. You are never alone. * U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: Call or text 988 * Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 (US/Canada) * Canada: Call 1-833-456-4566 or text 45645 * UK: Call Samaritans 116 123 * Australia: Lifeline 13 11 14 * India: Find a local crisis line at Befrienders India * International Mental Health Helplines : https://www.helpguide.org/find-help  Let's Share and Support Each Other 💙 To help us connect more this month, you can also feel free to respond to any of these prompts: * A Recent Wave: Can you share a time you rode out an urge (big or small)? What helped you stay on the board? * Your Wellbeing Anchor: What is one thing that consistently helps your wellbeing, even on hard days? (e.g. person, a pet, a song, a routine) * A Kind Reminder: What is one message about urges or wellbeing you wish someone had told you years ago? Let's make this thread a place where we can rest between waves, share our surf stories, and remind each other: The wave always passes. 🌊 Sending love and light, Angelanj 💙

...See more "Little by little, a little becomes a lot." – Tanzanian Proverb 🌱 Hello everyone, Welcome to newcomers and returning members of the depression support community. Whether you just joined or are coming back after time away, you belong here. 💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month. First, I want to sincerely apologize for this late post. This month carries such an important message, and it's one worth sharing no matter the date. Even as we move further into the month, the focus remains the same: the courage to keep going, the power of small actions, and the hope that tiny joys can still reach us. This month's prompt: Create a Dopamine Menu 🍏: What is a Dopamine Menu? A Dopamenu is a simple tool to help you boost your mood and motivation. Just like a food menu, it gives you choices. You pick activities based on how much time and energy you have. The goal is to help your brain release dopamine or the "feel-good" chemical, without pressure or perfection. Blank Template : Example of Dopamenu 🍈: How to Use your Dopamine Menu : Step 1: Print or save the blank template. Step 2: Fill in each section with your own ideas. Use the example for inspiration. Step 3: When you feel stuck, pick one thing from your menu. Start with a Starter if you're really low. Step 4: Do it. No pressure to finish. No guilt if you stop early. Step 5: Repeat whenever you need a boost. Feel free to share your Dopamine Menu in the comments! Sending love and light, Angelanj
