27 Days Clean!! Quitting g*nital and thigh cutting

...See more About a month clean and hoping to stay that way forever!! For people who have undergone FGC specifically or are considering cutting genitally, I want to give you tips on why you SHOULDN'T participate.  - It made me more physically sensitive, not any less sexual than before the procedure - You will get an infection and possibly necrosis - You will have urinary problems - Finally, you are the purest and most beautiful form as you are right now!  Your thighs are gorgeous too and scars do not beautify it. Please give yourself some self love, maybe henna, a bubble bath, or good sleep 💙

Purity culture and female cutting issues
Women's Issues / by ButterflyLoveNotHarm

...See more Hello, I don't know if anyone else here has experienced the pressure to look a certain way pelvicly or feel less sensation, but I would love to learn how you worked towards positive body image and/or stopping cutting.  I am recovering from self harm, but I thought it would be good to post in the women's thread because it is related by religious pressure to appear like you have no external genitalia to the point of dangerous cutting methods.  My current partner is very supportive, but I still face intrusive thoughts because I am just starting to work towards stopping this pattern rather than encouraging it and removing parts. How does one truly learn to always feel whole and confident in their body without modifying it further?

Females Recovering From Genital Cutting

...See more *TW: therapy, FGC, and ending sh habits* I am making this post anonymously to keep my privacy, but I wanted to share my recovery story to help other women that are going through the same issue. I am a traditional, Muslim, and feminine woman, but I have had pelvic sensory issues throughout my life due to sexual abuse at a young age. Because I felt guilty for the hype sensation, I removed my clitoris with a razor blade hoping it would make me permanently incapable of ever experiencing genital arousal. While the glans and some labia was gone, I ended up being even more physically sensitive than before and felt the urge to cut further! What I am getting at is it just fueled my cutting addiction further.  What helped me actually lower shame and physical sensations is Prolonged Exposure Therapy and CPT. I was able to see how I was taught that cutting leads to numbness and purity and to feel guilty about my natural self when what dictates that is what is inside of you, not how much external parts you have visible. I wish you all a great week and hope this convinces someone to stop cutting themselves or anyone else in that area.
