Females Recovering From Genital Cutting
*TW: therapy, FGC, and ending sh habits*
I am making this post anonymously to keep my privacy, but I wanted to share my recovery story to help other women that are going through the same issue. I am a traditional, Muslim, and feminine woman, but I have had pelvic sensory issues throughout my life due to sexual abuse at a young age. Because I felt guilty for the hype sensation, I removed my clitoris with a razor blade hoping it would make me permanently incapable of ever experiencing genital arousal. While the glans and some labia was gone, I ended up being even more physically sensitive than before and felt the urge to cut further! What I am getting at is it just fueled my cutting addiction further.
What helped me actually lower shame and physical sensations is Prolonged Exposure Therapy and CPT. I was able to see how I was taught that cutting leads to numbness and purity and to feel guilty about my natural self when what dictates that is what is inside of you, not how much external parts you have visible. I wish you all a great week and hope this convinces someone to stop cutting themselves or anyone else in that area.

I am so incredibly sorry you are going through such a heavy and stressful time right now. It is completely understandable that you are feeling overwhelmed, and your feelings are entirely valid because anyone would feel the exact same way in your shoes. Please know that you do not have to carry all of this on your own, and I am completely in your corner. I am always here whenever you need to vent, scream, or just sit in silence with someone who cares about you
There is absolutely no pressure to reply to this message right away, but I just wanted to remind you how much I care about you.
Whatever you need, whether it is a listening ear or just some quiet space, I am right here for you.
