Bio

Hello, I am Joyce. I am new to 7cups but I am willing to be a support system for anyone.

To make sure each person gets the support that they need I will only be speaking to one person at a time. As I am new, to ensure that individuals get the most support from me I will be taking on only 1 to 3 chats a day. My limit for chatting is about 30 minutes to 1 hour, but I am willing to chat more if you need too. You can see my activity for chatting by looking at the circle at the bottom of my profile.

  • If it is green, I am free to chat
  • if it is yellow, I am currently talking to someone or I am taking a break
  • If it is red, I have reached my chatting limit or I am offline.
    • If my status is red, we can set up a time where we can have a chat for the next day.

Whether you are new to chatting with me or someone older I am always here to chat so please do not hesitate to reach out.

I am a university student so I will be on and off on 7cups. This means that there will be time periods will I will not be as active as I may like. If you need support during that time and I am not available please reach out to other listeners.

❗I do not tolerate inappropriate conversations such as sexting. If they occur this will result in the conversation ending and a report.

❗I do not handle addiction, drugs/alcohol abuse, domestic violence and sexual abuse. If you need support with those issues please reach out to someone with experience in handling them.

Perspective Skills
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by Joyce25

...See more Being able to see things from multiple perspectives is something everyone should learn. It is so important to understand something from not just your own perspective but from others as well. It allows you to understand things, such as ones thoughts, feelings, intentions and emotions, on a deeper level as will as increase your learning. Being able to understand someone's thoughts and feelings can lead to enhance communication and being better at problem solving. Furthermore it can lead to an increase in empathy toward other people that you may not have empathy for otherwise. Perspective taking can be hard to learn, it can take time to get used to taking things into account from another perspective, but the advantages of doing so outweighs how hard it is to do. When you take into other peoples perspective into account it can make the person feel seen and heard and may allow them to open up in future situations.  1. What is the hardest thing for you about taking other peoples perspectives?

Appreciation

...See more Everyone needs to learn to appreciate more. Not just the good things that have happened but the bad as well (with respect to the extreme bad things that can happen). Bad events in our life can be used as stepping stones and learning opportunities to help us reach our goals and overcome difficulties in your lives. We often think of the bad as just negative things that have happened, which for the most part are true, but they can also be some positives in the bad we experience. Not every bad thing we go through can be appreciated as some things are just really bad, but there are many bad events we have in your life that we can learn to appreciate. It will take time to realize that and do not be forced to appreciate them right after they happened. But one day when you have come to move on from the event, reflect on it and see if you can use them as learning opportunities. If you see this post use it to reflect on something bad that has happened to you and how you have used it as a learning opportunity.  1. Do you think certain bad events can be appreciated, if so what is an example of an event?  2. What is one bad thing you had happen to you that can be or has been used as a learning opportunity?

...See more Hello everyone. I am curious about what everyone's hobbies are and what hobbies you would like to see other people be in or what hobbies you think are underrated?  I am a gamer but I also enjoy collecting things, such as plushies and little nicknacks. I also enjoy reading and listening to music. I was thinking about doing some more things such I have the summer off from university and I want to use this post as inspiration.

Do The Best You Can!

...See more Hello everyone. I am new to 7cups and I joined a few days ago. I thought I would come here and give some support to everyone that is new.  Please don't feel bad if a conversation does not go the way you want it to. Everyone gives support differently and people will take that support differently, no one is the same so please don't get upset if someone does not like your support style.  Take it easy. It can be excited to join a new role and you may want to help many people on the first day. Don't force yourself to talk on conversations with topics you may not be able to handle. And don't overwork yourself because you want to help as many people as possible.  I have seen some people say they are talking on multiple chats at a time and others are getting bad review. Don't be upset by them, take them as learning opportunities and use some of the trainings offered by 7cups. It can be hard to see that as someone that is new but please don't be discouraged. We all start somewhere.
