How should I go about finding out if I have cyclothymic disorder

...See more I have done some research, and I think I might have cyclothymic disorder. I show symptoms of hypomanic episodes and depressive episodes (I am not 100% about depressive episodes, but looking at the criteria for them, I meet a few). I definitely have never had a hypomanic episode or depressive episode. But I have some doubts that I have this. Like, wouldn't my psychiatrist have noticed if I had this? Wouldn't I be diagnosed already? So I want to see if I should bring this up with my therapist and psychiatrist. Maybe I am misinterpreting the symptoms. For the hypomanic symptoms, I notice that at times, I feel the pressure to keep talking. I don't interrupt people, but I always feel impatient and feel like they need to be quiet so I can speak. I am not sure if I have elevated happiness, but at times, I just feel a sudden surge of positive emotions, and I can't figure out where that came from. I am sure that I have lots of poor judgement with things, but maybe that's my personality. I don't know. I definitely have irritable and agitated behavior. But I don't know if the anger is too extreme to count for this symptom. Because I get really angry at times. Recently, I have been doing good with anger, but sometimes I have a bad week where I get really angry. I do not think I have a decreased need for sleep, because I have read that for that criteria, individuals just don't feel like they need to sleep, whereas for me, I want to sleep but I just can't. I also get easily distracted and can't concentrate at times, but that is probably because of my ADHD.  For depressive symptoms, I feel down a bit sometimes. I don't know if it is more than it is typically for people, although I have noticed this week I have been really sad. I cry easily at stuff, but I don't think that counts towards this. Like mentioned above, I do have irritability and agitation, but again, I don't know if it's too extreme to count. I don't really feel guilt, but sometimes I feel like I have no worth and that my family probably hates me and wants me to go. I usually always feel like that, but most of the time I realize that it's silly and my family does love me, but occasionally I feel it more strongly. I have periods of time with difficult sleep issues. I have noticed that the insomnia isn't always there, I noticed that there are weeks that I can fall asleep and stay asleep really easily, but there are also weeks (usually months) that it is very very difficult for me to fall asleep and stay asleep. And I feel tired throughout the day, even if I do manage to sleep well. And I just feel bored a lot of times, I lose interest in doing stuff. I have never, not even once, considered not being alive.  So I am wondering if this stuff is important enough to bring up to my therapist and psychiatrist. I would say that these issues do cause me difficulties in day to day life, like the irritability definitely does, and a lot of the depressive symptoms do. But I am worried that if I do bring it up to my psychiatrist and therapist, they wouldn't listen. Or maybe when asking my family, my family doesn't notice these symptoms because I never complain about some, or maybe I am just making a big deal about stuff. My psychiatrist has kind of brushed me off before when I mentioned the possibility of having excoriation disorder (which I am 100% sure I have. Like, I scratch and pick at my scalp all the time.). So maybe I should bring it up to my therapist first, I think he'd listen. But again, I am not sure if these symptoms are even severe enough for me to have cyclothymic disorder. Should I keep track of mood changes?

What should I do

...See more I have anger problems. Like, really bad anger problems. But only towards my immediate family. And I left iop in maybe February or March this year, and my anger is getting bad again. My parents told me that I will probably have to go to a residential treatment center, but I don't think that is necessary, cuz the anger problems are only happening at home, so a residential won't do anything. I've been to a residential before in the past, and it didn't do anything. So I'm trying to convince my parents to see if I can get back into iop at the same place i did php/iop before. My parents are skeptical, but the thing is, The php and iop at this place has been the most effective out of everything so far (php, inpatient, residential, inpatient, php, iop in that order). I don't know if the place will take me back. But I want to try. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my weekly outpatient therapist, and I'm gonna try and see what he things. But do you all have any advice for me for convincing my parents to try and get me into iop again? I'd rather go to iop than residential.

OCD & Related Behaviors / by MicahMicahMicah

...See more So I have a few symptoms (i think) of OCD, and I will list them here, and I was wondering if it's anything I should bring up with my parents and psychiatrist. I sometimes perform checking stuff. I used to frequently at night check the bathroom sink (bathroom is right next to my bedroom) to see if it is off. I would sometimes do it multiple times in a night, even right after doing it I would do it again. However, I do not do this as much anymore. I would say I do it about once or twice a week, so I do not think this is as important. I sometimes have to recheck when I count. Actually, I do this a lot. For example, I like to write poetry, and I count on my fingers the syllables of a phrase or a word. Almost every time, I recheck my counting, sometimes I recheck multiple times, and I get really frustrated afterwards, even when I know that I'm not likely to be wrong. I also do this even when it's only one word thats just 3 syllables. And I recheck about 2-3 times per count. I also recheck counting when counting pages in a book. I like to read manga a lot, and usually not all the pages are numbered, so when telling people about what page a scene is on, I have to count from the most previous numbered page, and I get worried that I miscount, even when I hardly ever miscount, so I recheck. I recheck about once or twice. I get really worried about messing up my counting a lot, and I get very frustrated over this.  I tried to explain as honest as I can. So, is this of any concern and something I should bring up to my parents and psychiatrist?

Pronouns

...See more I don’t know what pronouns to use. I will list some pronouns and say why I don’t think they fit me.  She/Her - I was born as a female, but I don’t think I am female, so I don’t want to use those. I don’t hate them, because I’m used to them.  He/Him - IF only she her and he him pronouns existed I would choose he him. HOWEVER, that’s not the case. I’m not a male (not by itself anyways) and I just don’t feel comfortable with masculine pronouns.  They/Them - It’s what I’m using at school. The only problem I have is that people PROBABLY think I am nonbinary, but I’m not.  It/Its - The other night I was imagining scenarios of using these pronouns, and they felt kinda nice, I’m not sure why. Offsite I have changed my pronouns to it/its to test them out. Only problem I have is that some people might think that I don’t think I am a human, but I am! Neopronouns - The only neopronouns I think I would like are e/em/eirs. I would use them, but I don’t think anyone would actually use these for me irl. And online offsite, I’ve been made fun of once for using e/em/eirs no pronouns - idk if I’d like these. I have a feeling people would just call me a they, tho.  All pronouns - again, idk if this is what I want. I don’t think people would actually use all pronouns for me.  Any pronouns - I feel like if I said any pronoun would work, online I would probably be called a he or they, and irl a she.  Mirror pronouns - I think mirror pronouns are where the user uses their pronouns as mine. I’m not sure though. Could be an option.  Nounself pronouns - I don’t think they’d fit me.  Anywho for now online I use it/they, irl I use they/them.  Any advice for figuring this out?

...See more I once heard someone say “oh, she has a little bit of autism” when talking about someone. I admit, even though I myself am diagnosed, I don’t know much about autism, so I don’t know if saying that is correct, because either someone has autism or they don’t, right? I am not sure, so I am asking

...See more I made this poem but I want to turn it into a song  it’s called “Checkmate”  it’s a work in progress and I will now type a portion of it here: I’ll keep you in check, I will force your moves I will study hard, have my smarts proved I don’t wanna stay this low forever Instead of being bad, I could just play never But no, I’m mad that he’s smarter, I’m tired that they work harder  I hate how she progressed further
