Reflecting and reaching out
Trauma Support / by WriteToHeal42
Last post

...See more Today I feel... What do I feel? A little numbed out I guess. I was reading people's posts about childhood emotional neglect, feeling heartbroken for them, also sad and relieved that I wasn't alone in such experiences. I kept feeling a little less alone in it, which felt good for a time, but I was relating with people's stories on a screen, not connecting with the people themselves. It's that disconnect that leaves me with a pain that's hard to explain. I thought I'd reflect here on 7cups about it, and reach out to the people who I think would understand most. There's also that tension between wanting to reach out and wanting to stay safe. Remembering now that the people who were supposed to be safe actually hurt us deeper than the people we were warned about. @LifeIsMyCanvas and @mytwistedsoul I'm tagging you because I think you might get it.

Trauma Support check in (Friday)
Trauma Support / by WriteToHeal42

...See more Hello everyone, I haven't been as active in the last couple of weeks because I've been doing well. I've been reflecting, and come to the conclusion that I want to put in some time each week to support the Trauma Support Community. I thought I'd try checking in on Fridays for this month of January.  Check in questions: • How are you doing? • What's some type of support you need? • What is one good thing that happened recently? To those who don't reply, you're in my thoughts too. Best wishes, WriteToHeal42

Questions about trauma response

...See more Hey @mytwistedsoul, and @LifeIsMyCanvas, I had a question for you and anyone else who has knowledge of dissociation (I've also texted my therapist too, though she doesn't have much formal training in Dissociative Disorders) I went to a grocery store with a friend, and had to leave them to use the store's restroom. I was dissociated to begin with, and then in the restroom I started to lose strength in my muscles, going weak and almost limp. It felt between freeze and faint/flop responses. It was hard to pick up grocery bags and stuff and only started getting better when I got home. Have any of you experienced this? I know I have before somewhere, but can't remember the details clearly. Any thoughts are appreciated. Hope you're doing well!

Side Effects, And Hope For And Of Healing

...See more ***Content advisory*** Post has some content that may be triggering (fear and trauma responses described). Please take care and know what your boundaries/needs are before reading ... Some days I still run to my room to hide, despite being an adult for over a decade. Not because there's anything overtly threatening, but that response was drilled into me. Hide, so they don't hurt you. Some days I still space out, lose track of time. Some days I take too much caffeine to cope. Some days I scroll endlessly though social media, trying to numb it all out. And some days, more than I used to, I find reasons to laugh. Some days, more than in the past, I believe I deserve love and care from myself. Some days, more than before, I feel safe and secure enough with my support system that I can open up about it. It affects the way I walk, but I'm learning new ways of walking and existing in this world. There's hope and healing, and there's more hope for more healing. Step by step, breath by breath. You are enough. They may have hurt you, but you didn't deserve it. You deserve love and kindness. I know you have your doubts about that, and with all the messages that were drilled into you, well, I understand why. So let's work together to drill these new messages you've heard in now. You are loved, you do deserve love. Love you, my dear ones.

Thinking of You

...See more Happy Mothers Day to all, you are in my thoughts. We all have mothers, though not all have healthy relationships with them, or relationships at all in some cases. I want to take this time to acknowledge the ranges of feelings and experiences we have with our mothers. Relationships have the potential to help, to heal, to harm. I'd like to have a moment of silence, sitting with you all, holding space for all. ... For the mothers, birth mothers and all other kinds of mothers and motherly ones, and those longing to be mothers, I'd like to hold space for you as well. You loved, you love, and you long to love, to the best of your abilities. To those in mourning the loss of your mothers and children, and potential children, a moment of silence. ... Virtual hugs to any who need and want one. Thinking of you all this mothers day. Proud of you for existing, and hoping you feel loved. Best wishes, WriteToHeal42

**TW** Disordered Eating Thoughts, Trauma

...See more **TW** Eating disorder thoughts, trauma @mytwistedsoul tagging you since you said you were okay discussing it in group chat, but it's okay if you don't feel up to discussing it now of course I have a question for systems... When a part has trauma surrounding food, how do you convince them it's safe to eat/get food now?  I know they are scared, but I'm not sure how to help them feel safe. For context, we have allergies and sensitivities to lots of food, but sometimes that part won't even eat "safe foods," sometimes for a whole day until another part switches in. Any advice, thoughts? I'm also working with a therapist and will be asking her too, though she doesn't specialize in dissociative disorders.
