Lost my childhood dog after nearly 15 years together
Grief & Loss / by convivialZebra8368

...See more i lost my childhood dog a few days ago I just feel absolutely miserable. She was nearly 15 years old, and I know I should be happy she made it so long, but I just keep breaking down thinking about all of the milestones she was there for. She’s been there for everything in my life and now she won’t be anymore and it just feels wrong. It hurts even more because I’ve experienced a lot of loss in my life, including losing a parent. But my dog has always been there for me since I got her. Idk. Just struggling.

Comments about other people’s bodies make me feel worse

...See more My family has this fun habit where they like to point other people’s weights a lot, or some of them like to mention how much they think they need to lose weight….It just makes me feel so horrible about myself, every time I hear them say things like that Like, they’ll start making fun of someone they think is overweight and all I can think about is, “if they think that about them, what must they think about me?” It just makes me feel so horrible about myself even though it’s not even about me and I find it really difficult to interact with food and my body in a healthy way. It can totally throw off not only that, but my entire day honestly Any tips, I guess? Or even just anyone else experience this? Getting them to stop isn’t really any option. I don’t know if I have an eating disorder, but I have disordered eating for sure.

...See more He says we’re not broken up, just on a break….And he wants to work on himself and focus on himself more. He’s been emotionally unavailable prior to this announcement but wouldn’t take any of my offers to help or even just listen. I just can’t. It feels like it was out of nowhere. He says it’s nothing I did…I can barely get myself to eat or drink water now. I feel miserable and I can’t see my therapist until Monday. I miss him so bad. I tried so hard to do all the right things and I love him so much and i just feel CRUSHED. We were close to our 2 year anniversarry too..just days away. I can’t believe it. I can’t stop crying.

Mom’s romantic life is ruining our parent-child relationship

...See more The title is so dramatic but I didn’t know how else to describe it. I will talk briefly about divorce, death, and related topics here, but no details. My mom’s currently on her 4th husband. Yep, you read that correctly. She’s been married to him less than a year and even though I like the guy, her new love is making me incredibly upset on the daily. Well, not him specifically, but. A little background: My bio dad died when I was young, but my parents were divorced before that. I didn’t know my dad much as a result besides the fact that he was sick. However, my mom also remarried AND had another child (my half sibling) before my dad even passed away, despite her claims that she always loved him and still does. She refuses to explain to me what happened, so my early childhood is simply a garbled mess of recollections I can’t piece together. The icing on the cake though, is that my first stepdad left too. Him and my mom got divorced and now I have no contact with him except through my half sibling. My mom, however, decided that she needed a new husband ASAP and started dating almost immediately. Once again, the marriage resulted in a divorce and I was displaced yet again, right as I had started to settle in and accept my “new normal” She says “this time’s different” but she said that about the last two times as well. I can’t trust that, and I can’t help but see her new husband as temporary even if it’s not fair to him. I feel like we’re constantly arguing despite the fact that I don’t want to and try my best not to provoke anything. Even when I’m the one in the right, my mom tells me it’s easier to just agree with him and move on. I know I’m an adult now (teen adult living at home for college) but I thought I’d still at least have my mom for a little longer. Now all she seems to care about is him, they even still have “date nights” once or twice a week where I get left at home to care for my siblings! I’m tired of feeling like my mom’s being taken away from me, too but I don’t know how to even fix this situation. I’ve tried having lunch with her for some alone time, but she always manages to turn it into an argument. Mostly I’d just really like to feel some form of compassion for my situation, as none of my friends know what’s going on (mom gets mad if I talk about her negatively or disapprove of her multiple marriages; says it makes her look bad) and I haven’t started back therapy quite yet. My mom wants to start family therapy but honestly I’m questioning if I even want a relationship with her at all anymore- It’d hurt me to cut the strings as I’d have no parents to rely on but I’m starting to feel less and less like this relationship is worth it. I just needed to get that out there, please let me know if this was too many details, etc for the forums
