Bio

I'm an old school old man, living alone as I have for 7 years now. I'm a disabled person, my disability based on bipolar mania and psychosis. As a young boy I was involved in an accident that took the lives of my sister and my girlfriend after we had left our church. I suffered a serious head injury to which doctors later attribute the mental health issues. Throughout my life I have required hospitalization over 20 times.

In the 50 years of my life that I have been a patient or client or whatever the term is now, I definitely realize that even in 2025 anyone who has been diagnosed with any type of Mental/Emotional type of disorder will not only suffer from the effects of the disease and the accompaniang psychotropic medication side affects, unfortunately there's the always present stigma of being a "mental" person.

Anyway, who loves music? 🎶

The Reaper part 2

...See more Yesterday, after trying to process yet another loss, I created a post titled The Reaper where I shared some things about my life, hoping to elicit some discussion and hoping to be able to talk about losing my stepdad Friday. I wasn't really very surprised to see that only 1 individual even bothered. I'm thinking that if this community is somehow supposed to be therapeutic and helpful to some degree, then responding to and commenting on posts would be important. Apparently not. So thank you 7Cups members for being so dismissive towards someone in need. If your purpose is to uplift, you have failed.

...See more This is not meant to be negative. I'm 63 now and with the lifestyle my friends and I lead there were often periods of years where almost constantly someone I knew and cared for passed away. I had 2 very close buddies, Scott and Jasper. My best friend Buddha (Scott K.) had drug related heart failure and Jasper passed from brain cancer. Neither one of my closest friends made it to age 60. A woman who I loved dearly, we shared a home and our time together, passed away from a fentanyl overdose. And shortly afterwards I lost the one person who always showed me love unconditionally.... My mom passed from Parkinson's disease. And just this past Friday my stepdad David died after being diagnosed with cancer only recently. While I only mentioned these, I can assure you that I seem to have experienced much more death than I have life. Every year, without fail, another one gone. At some point I realized my own mortality. The next big event in my life that I know I can expect will be my own passing. And while I'm personally not afraid of that fact, I suppose to understand that I'll possibly die alone here in this apartment with no one really knowing until.... And please, this is not a threat of self harm. But after laying in here for weeks now and with the health issues I suffer from, without proper medication, and absolutely no one coming by I understand that it's a good possibility. I guess I'm trying to say that no one wants to be forgotten or simply dismissed. Although I am an older person and I don't do anything particularly constructive for society, I am still a person. I was young once. I could run and play and it seemed like things had no real ending. Only new beginnings. But now reality is priority. Look, as a side note....As old people we don't mean to be slow and to hold up the line and to get in the way. We're trying. If you get a little aggravated at some old person please try to understand that the burden of the years we carry is often a heavy one. And there's always the constant pain of a worn out body. We're trying. Please understand.

...See more I went to a local hospital emergency room last night for medical clearance. I was admitting myself to an inpatient facility for extensive mental health treatment. Not only was I unable to get the help I needed I was discharged from the hospital at 4:30 a.m. and after explaining that I didn't have transportation home, the hospital staff informed me that I had been discharged. Have A Nice Day. I was left with absolutely no choice but to attempt to walk home somehow. Please understand that I'm visually impaired. I'm blind in my left eye and only have partial vision in the right. Yet this hospital thought it was perfectly fine to allow me to wander out into the roadway as opposed to trying to assist me in some way. The hospital is Parkridge East Medical Center in East Ridge Tennessee. What kind of human being does this to someone vulnerable who can't see?! Especially a health professional. So this is how things go for me, each time I reach out for help I'm met with resistance in some form or another. The answer lies in the fact that I'm an old man. A meaningless old person who doesn't contribute to society in any way, just generally a nuisance, always holding up the line and being in the way of a fast moving world. To say I'm tired of trying is a huge understatement. My quality of life is zero. I have no purpose, I serve no purpose. I'm merely existing and for no reason whatsoever. I'm planning on trying to make it to the 17th of this month which would be my 63rd birthday. And that is all. I'm not interested in continuing like this and I will not. I live in *** with no one at all to talk with or to turn to. And so this has become my reality and I seem to be the one holding the key to allow me to escape this sickening existence. I look forward to whats next, this life no longer appeals to me. At all.

...See more .... for the past year or so of my life.... I've noticed how it feels to be completely inconsequential and meaningless to everyone. To Everyone. And please don't just simply this post, whether you dismiss me or not. That's irrelevant. You see, I'm not someone struggling through growing pains, puberty, some miscellaneous acne issue....etc. And again, please I am not discounting those things as unimportant because that wouldn't be true or fair. They, among others, are important and those particular issues were a huge part of my life once upon a time. But.... This post isn't an invitation to some pity party. All those things aside for the moment. Allow me to explain. I'll be 63 years old in July and although my life was a very active and social one I find myself in an odd and extremely uncomfortable situation now. My closest family members and every one of my old friends are gone. A few moved away but most are deceased. And now I find myself here, disabled, visually impaired, diabetic, unhealthy, but often without things that most people take for granted having. Like food and medication. No one comes here to check on my well-being. I sometimes go for extended periods of time without any human contact. And very often this is my reality. And while I am grateful for sites such as this one I remain skeptical. At this point, what can anyone actually Say, that could possibly make a difference?
