....indifference....

.... for the past year or so of my life.... I've noticed how it feels to be completely inconsequential and meaningless to everyone.

To Everyone.

And please don't just simply this post, whether you dismiss me or not. That's irrelevant.

You see, I'm not someone struggling through growing pains, puberty, some miscellaneous acne issue....etc. And again, please I am not discounting those things as unimportant because that wouldn't be true or fair. They, among others, are important and those particular issues were a huge part of my life once upon a time. But....

This post isn't an invitation to some pity party.

All those things aside for the moment. Allow me to explain. I'll be 63 years old in July and although my life was a very active and social one I find myself in an odd and extremely uncomfortable situation now.

My closest family members and every one of my old friends are gone. A few moved away but most are deceased. And now I find myself here, disabled, visually impaired, diabetic, unhealthy, but often without things that most people take for granted having. Like food and medication. No one comes here to check on my well-being. I sometimes go for extended periods of time without any human contact.

And very often this is my reality. And while I am grateful for sites such as this one I remain skeptical. At this point, what can anyone actually Say, that could possibly make a difference?

I feel for you as that is what I dread my life becomes. I am 61 and although I do not have a disability, I am alone in a way that I have all but 1 friend.

I have been working hard to get my health up to an acceptable standard to me, so that when I retire I hope to enjoy being with my grandkids.

All I can say is, even if you try to exercise even the slightest bit daily, it can up lift your way of thinking.

@sincereYard7295 I think i understand what you mean by not wanting pity. I have many unshared stories from past and present that I dont put out because Im not looking for sympathy all the time ... solutions I try to find from different places and my own reasoning but we won't always have solutions for everything.. none of us.... letting go of a lot and finding some form of peace within is where it all comes down to for me.

Well your not alone. I'm not diabetic but I'm severely traumatized and having a nervous breakdown for 2 months now. I'm getting out of a 15 year relationship with my abuser and he isolated me so much I don't have any friends. Not even do my kids call me. They realize that I have lost my mind from the stalking, gas lighting and being an intruder in my apartment. Well I am new here and I promise to be your friend. I just have to get some sleep now. I'll text you later.

Hello there, and thank you for sharing this post. I don’t often comment on posts, but reading your story touched my heart and I wanted to repay your courage with a few words of support. First, I wanted to say that you’re absolutely correct in wanting to find human connection. Truly, in all stages of life, we need human connection to build a circle of support, and that is certainly more relevant when you find yourself with few friends and family, as you described. While I can’t offer specific advice on how to build this circle of support because I don’t know your complete situation, I will say that you certainly have something to offer any community you have access to. After all, you’ve been around for more than 60 years, six decades! I’m sure that you’re a treasure trove of rich stories and experiences 😊 Anyone would be grateful to hear what you have to say.

Hmm… depending on one’s access, there are a few ways to join communities for meaningful support. You’ve found one here on 7Cups, and anyone here would be willing to chat with you, as you’ve seen in the other lovely replies to your post 😊 Definitely check them out, since they offer great perspectives on your situation! Other special interest communities are available across the Internet. But as for in-person communities, availability differs by location. Some people in similar situations have found success in joining religious communities such as churches. Even if you don’t consider yourself religious, such communities may offer the connection that you and others desire.

Aside from all of this, I wanted to say that you certainly still have much to offer to this world. We’re all grateful that you shared your story here with us on 7Cups, and you’ll find that the other replies have more support to offer you. After all, you’re a part of our community now 😊 Sorry for such a long post, but thank you for reading this. I’ll be sending you good thoughts. Take care, my friend, and be well.
