...See more When we are going through a mental health crisis—whether it’s depression, anxiety, burnout, or anything else—the all or nothing mindset can be incredibly overwhelming. Lately, I’ve been reminding myself something is always better than nothing. Giving ourselves permission to do things "imperfectly" is an act of survival. Here are some of the small ways I’ve been getting through the hard days: Daily Survival & Self-Care Hacks * Eating a snack is better than starving: Even if it’s not a "proper" meal, fuel is fuel. * Frozen meals are better than nothing: Having a few "heat-and-eat" options in the freezer is a lifesaver. * Paper plates are better than no dishes: If you can’t face the sink, use disposables. It’s okay. * A quick wipe-down is better than no cleaning: A simple wet wipe can keep your space feeling manageable. * A store-bought drink is better than dehydration: If you struggle to drink during the day, grabbing a bottle is a win. * Reaching out on 7 Cups is better than staying silent: Connecting with others is a huge step. * Dry shampoo is better than no hair care: It helps you feel refreshed when a full wash is too much. * Opening a window is better than staying in the dark: Letting in some fresh air can change the vibe of a room. * A doom box is better than a messy floor: If your room is cluttered, just throw items into a box or basket to clear the floor. You can deal with it later. * Listening to a podcast is better than sitting in silence: It can help make you feel less lonely. My Zero-Effort Snack List When I don't have the energy to cook, I lean on these snacks that require almost zero prep: * Pre-packaged nuts (almonds, pistachios, etc.) * Squeezable fruit pouches (applesauce) * Bananas * Drinkable yogurts * Sugar-free bottled iced tea * Simple sandwiches (homemade or store-bought) * Cereal or protein bars * Cheese sticks or babybel * Pre-cut veggies (like carrot sticks) * Hummus or other dips * Dried fruits What are your hacks? This simple act of grounding makes a direct electrical connection to the earth, which is known to reduce physical inflammation, lower stress hormones, and improve sleep quality by neutralizing the body's static energy. it strengthens the small muscles, improves your natural arch, and restores a healthy range of motion that shoes often take away. 🕊️ Ahimsa: Practice a philosophy of non-interference. By observing and respecting insects, birds, and flora without the urge to control or kill, we foster a mindset of peace. This means not picking flowers, not mowing the lawn, and refusing to view creatures as pests, pets, or food. We must remember that we are animals too, we are all just neighbors sharing one home. 🌿 Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or pesticides whenever you can. Using natural, biodegradable alternatives protects the water and the earth for all living beings. 🏠 Before buying something new, challenge yourself to find a solution within your own four walls. Can it be mended? Can it be repurposed? This reduces the demand for new resources and honors the energy already present in your home. 🔄 Instead of supporting mass production, prioritize the exchange of goods. Giving a second life to furniture or clothes through restoration and second-hand swaps keeps items out of landfills and builds community through shared resources. 🌬️ Pranayama: Incorporate focused breathing exercises to clear mental fog. Examples: Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing) for balance, or Sheetali (Cooling Breath) for calm. Benefits: It increases oxygen flow, lowers the heart rate, and centers the mind. Pair this with gentle stretching twice a day, once to invite energy in, and once to release the day's weight. 🌱 Make time to simply lie in the grass. It is the most direct way to remember that we are part of the earth, not separate from it. Benefits include spinal decompression, a lowered heart rate, and a profound sense of psychological belonging to the natural world. 🌅 Whenever possible, try to align your sleep patterns with the movement of the sun. Waking as the light rises and preparing for rest as it fades optimizes your metabolic health and allows you to live in harmony with the natural pulse of the planet. 🧶 Replace scrolling with a tactile hobby. Whether it is embroidery, crochet, or drawing, engaging in an artistic activity grounds the mind in the present moment, improves fine motor skills, and produces beauty without the waste of industrial consumption. 🌙 Just as we seek the sun at dawn, we should look to the moon at dusk. ...See more Hi :) I recently discovered Heartopia, and it quickly became my favourite comfort game. I find it really soothing, so I wanted to share it in case some of you are looking for something cozy and relaxing. What I love about it: * It’s free, and honestly very nice and complete for a free game, I’ve never seen such a good free mobile game * You can play on PC, phone, or tablet * The game is very connected to nature, creativity, and hobbies * The art style is beautiful, and the music + nature sounds are super calming * The community feels really kind and wholesome (everyone I met was really nice!) * It’s multiplayer, so you can play with friends and/or people on the map * The chat system feels safe because you can only talk to people you add as friends * There are sooo many cozy things to do: cooking, building your home, fishing, catching insects, watching birds, feeding wild animals… it’s like a little peaceful world! * There are also cute seasonal events and activities A little safety reminder (especially for younger players): Even if the community is lovely, please stay safe online 💛 If you’re a minor, don’t talk to strangers and don’t accept friend requests from people you don’t know. A few downsides to keep in mind: * Time flies in this game ⏰ and there’s no real-world time shown in-game, so I recommend setting a little timer for yourself to avoid spending too much time on screens * There are daily login rewards, which are designed to make you come back every day and can feel a bit addictive * Some items are paid, but they’re only cosmetic (outfits & accessories) and not needed at all * It uses a fair amount of battery and storage space Personally, this game helps me relax a lot. I often play it instead of scrolling on social media, and for me it feels much calmer and less harmful for my mental health. Hope this helps someone find a new little comfort game 💛

...See more Hello everyone, Has anyone here actually succeeded in spending less time on screens? I’m asking because I’ve been trying for a long time, but I just can’t seem to make any progress. I feel like I’m stuck in this loop of screens, and it’s taking a toll on me. It’s a bit easier when I’m around people, but when I’m alone, which is most of the time, it feels impossible. I can’t stay in silence with my anxiety, it becomes unbearable. I always need some kind of distraction. I think part of it is that I don’t feel comfortable where I live, and I can’t change that for now. Because of my mental health issues, I feel uncomfortable in most spaces anyway. I also do a lot of multiscreening, phone, laptop, several apps at once. And with more apps existing now (for example chatgpt), I feel like the dependence keeps getting worse, even though these tools genuinely help me too. I’ve been on screens since I was very young, and honestly… it makes me feel ashamed. I don’t even know what else to do with my time, nothing feels meaningful to me anymore. Even when I’m with people now, I end up on my phone. I can’t even focus on a show anymore, and I can’t concentrate on reading, my mind jumps straight back to my phone. Most of the time, I’m not even watching or looking at things that truly interest me, I just need noise, loud sounds to stop my brain from thinking. My phone makes me feel safe, but at the same time it’s taking so much of my time and energy. My daily screen time (just on my phone, not counting my computer) is usually around 10 hours. I know this is hard for everyone, and that these things were designed to be addictive, but I also know that even people without mental health issues struggle. So I wonder, is it even possible for us to get better? The only thing that has helped a little is blocking or unfollowing a lot of content I was spending too much time on on social media. On YouTube, the don't recommend option also helps cut out useless content that just steals time. I’m making a lot of efforts to take care of my mental health and to socialize more, but despite my efforts, it’s not really working. A lot of advice I see online doesn’t work for me. I can’t just put my phone in a drawer because I rely on it for important health apps. And I get anxious thinking someone might call me and I won’t be able to answer. Things like timers or “don’t touch your phone for an hour” actually stress me out even more. If anyone has gone through something similar and actually found a solution, I would really love to hear your experiences. How did you manage it? What actually helped? What didn’t?
