How to release very negative emotions in a healthy way?

Especially when a lot of negative emotions come up all at once and get mixed together.

How can I react in a fair way?

I've learned over the years, whether it's good or bad feelings, they need to rise to the surface because it's just how I'm feeling and it's still important.

Do you feel comfy chatting to others about it? I used to find journalling was useful, sometimes I would even feel compelled to apologise for being in a yucky mood but it was satisfying to have a clear mind again.

I also tried not to censor myself, otherwise it just get's stronger and stronger until I faced it :)

I've realised over years, that fighting my negative emotions only makes them stay longer. When I stop pushing them away and simply ask, "What are you trying to tell me?", they become much easier to handle.

I may not feel better immediately, but I always feel lighter especially when I treat myself with the same kindness I would offer someone else, with out judging myself.

Hello. I too go through this everyday. I don't want to feel like this. That's why I watch web series and movies to cope up....

I want to know that too. 😔 Sometimes I feel like going to the top of a hill and screaming as loud as I can just to let everything out. but finding a hilltop that isn’t crowded feels impossible. 🏔️😮‍💨

I have been working on this as well. Something I find helpful is not reacting right away. Taking a moment to breathe, think, then revisit the issue and see if your emotions have changed. When all of those thoughts come in, what is one thing you can do that will help you in any way? Could be a distraction like a silly tv show, spending time w your kids if you have, a nice shower, self care, etc.

It is so hard to do and we are all works in progress.

@whimsyLeaf7957 It's happening to me right now and I don't know what to do.

I can relate to feeling like everything hits at once sometimes. One thing that helps me is slowing down before reacting and trying to identify what I’m actually feeling. Giving myself a little space through journaling, deep breathing, or talking with someone I trust usually helps me respond more calmly. Be gentle with yourself. 💚💫🙏

It’s important to remain keep composure, and be mindful that there are consequences to your actions. It’s ok to feel how you feel, but it’s not ok to hurt yourself or others or say something that you can’t take back.
