Cris Firman, Lead Engineer, focuses on creating high-impact, results-driven web applications. An avid Linux Junkie and supporter of OpenSource technology, Cris brings to the table strong coding with an artistic eye. Cris is a dedicated family man to his loving wife Shauna and two wonderful children.
Laura, Director of Community Development, joins us from the Startup Institute in New York, where she developed a passion for community building. In her previous life, Laura worked in Affiliate Marketing at The Dr. Oz Show. She has a passion for building strong relationships, health and wellness and practices meditation daily.
Heather is our Content Strategist and Noni Lead. Previously on the 7 Cups Community Team, she led group support chat for its first three years. Piano, swimming and documentaries are her favourite things. When not training the bot, she is making music and memories with her three children in the UK.
Christian, our Head of Product, has been making online spaces to connect people since he first encountered the internet. He ran the messaging products team at AOL and was most recently director of product at CloudOn. He is the author of The Power of Many and co-author of Designing Social Interfaces. Christian lives in Palo Alto with his wife Briggs and an ever-growing collection of ukuleles.
Christina, Product Manager, is a lifelong learner and science geek. She is passionate about providing the best product experience for everyone. She lived in Denmark for three years, completing her Ph.D. in geology and oceanography. Traveling and learning new languages (human and computer) are her favorite hobbies. She lives in mountainous Colorado with her two dogs.
Khoi, VP of People, has led the people program at several startups in hyper-growth over the past decade. Primarily working in the software and renewable energy space, he has a passion for creating healthy company cultures and high team engagement through active listening. Khoi currently resides in San Francisco and enjoys exploring the food scene.
Deja, our Customer Service Representative, prides herself on being the go-to problem fixer. She has a strong passion for providing great support to individuals all over the world. Her main goal is keep as many people as content as possible. Residing in New Jersey, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones.
Sue, our Peer Lead, is a person with the lived experience and one of the first National Certified Peer Specialists. Prior to joining 7 Cups, Sue worked as the National VP of Consumer and Family Affairs at Optum/United and the CEO of the Depression and Bipolar Supports Alliance. She loves her little pink house by a lake and her two wonderful pups.
Kate, Director of Research, has consistently pursued opportunities to embrace and apply social psychology in technology. After receiving her Ph.D. in Social Psychology, she left academia for the social media research start-up scene where she has happily rollercoastered the peaks and valleys of digital life in the 21st century. Kate loves everything psychology, exercise, and green tea. She lives in Austin with her partner, Derek, their four boys, Finn, Atticus, Story and Theodore; and puppy, Leonard.
Heather, our Community Safety Coordinator, is a seasoned community manager with a deep passion for mental health advocacy. She believes in the power of solidarity, and she will be working hard to foster and preserve a space safe enough to call home. She resides in California with her husband and parrot.
Joe, our Senior Recruiter, has spent the majority of his career building a software start up and is excited about building things. This ranges from teams, companies, and processes to furniture and his Pop! figure collection. Joe currently resides in Los Angeles and spends his free time hiking, cooking, and consuming all things Sci Fi.
Jackie, Peer Specialist, has lived with mental challenges since she was a child and is currently walking her own path of recovery. She has worked as a Lead Peer Specialist with Pathways by Molina. She assisted mental health consumers link to Orange County Behavioral Health by advocating and helping navigate to their first destination of recovery. Before becoming a Peer Specialist, she spent many years in developing academic curriculum for children. She loves spending time with her daughter and her 3 dogs. Her life long dream is to own an animal sanctuary on her private island.
Maria, Peer Specialist, is passionate about mental health and being able to empower people through their recovery journey. She has lived experience and has worked in the mental health field for several years. She enjoys the beach and mountains. She lives in Southern California with her three kids, husband, and two dogs. Spending time with family and friends while camping and fishing are her favorite hobbies.
Beth, Psy.D, is our Head of Service Delivery. She is a licensed psychologist who has worked as a provider and clinic administrator. She is passionate about the integration of behavioral health with technology and improving access to care. She enjoys travel, loves animals and is a lifelong Steelers fan.
Nick, Account Executive, has been brought up through the start-up tech world in both the Bay Area and Los Angeles. He has focused on helping companies grow their book of business through thoughtful and unique methods. Nick may be a salesperson by day, but you will most likely find him at one of the local ice rinks at night enjoying his first passion, hockey.
Jillian, Community Manager, is blending her experience in both community and healthcare to help grow the 7 Cups community. She is passionate about streamlining solutions and problem solving to ensure the best community experience. When she isn’t increasing engagement, she is spending time with her family or reading a good book.
Cindy, Principal Research Scientist, received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology, and held an academic research position studying the psychology of word use. In the tech industry, she worked on multidisciplinary teams developing immersive computing and artificial intelligence applications. Cindy currently resides in the Pacific Northwest, loves traveling and food with old friends, and keeps a daily yoga practice.
Gregory Prill, Senior Software Engineer, has been working as a full stack engineer for the better part of a decade. He loves using technology to help people connect, especially in a caring way. When not at work he might be found with his latest batch of foster kittens or in the weight room.
Lisa, Clinical Support Services Manager, joins us expanding from her role as a therapist on 7 Cups. She is very passionate about enhancing mental health services and supporting therapists to offer the highest quality therapeutic services to the people in need. She enjoys spending time with her husband, children and two energetic furry friends!
Lauren Gerardi, Ph.D., is our Director of Clinical Services. She is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked with individuals in multiple settings, including hospitals, clinics, non-profit organizations, and online. Her main goal is to ensure the outstanding quality of the therapy program, for both clients and therapists. In addition to her role here, she has a private practice in Long Island, New York, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
Austin, Senior Engineer, enjoys architecting highly scalable backend systems as well as delivering exquisite frontend user experiences. Prior to entering software development, he worked as both a quantum optics research physicist and owner of a language school in Moscow, Russia. Austin loves to travel and speaks Español, русский язык, and a little 日本語.
Shannon, our Managing Editor, has over 15 years in digital marketing and content experience growing brands like TheKnot.com and TheBump.com. She’s also written memoirs for multiple business and music icons. Shannon is passionate about helping people through the power of words. She’s a Los Angeles native with her two awesome teen kids, senior dog and toddler bunny, and she drinks all the flavored coffee.
Erik, our People Operations Coordinator, combines a strong background of running small businesses with a passion for productivity and positivity in the workplace. He is enthusiastic about contributing his skills to the mental health field. Erik resides in San Jose, CA. He enjoys playing soccer and gardening, as well as spending time with his wonderful family.
Ece, our Senior Product Manager, has spent the past decade building data-driven user-focused products. Most recently she led the team at Mashable as they earned 4 patents for their work bringing predictive analytics into the newsroom. She is excited to be transitioning into the mental health space and passionate about making care accessible for all. She lives in New York City with a dog, a cat and camera roll full of wildlife photography.
Lance, Senior Mobile Developer, received a BFA in Electronic Music from the Oberlin Conservatory and after a fun filled couple of decades in the music business (which culminated in his writing the T-Mobile ring tone), Lance went on to become a front end developer specializing in React and React Native. When not creating algorithmic music based on principles of psychophysics, Lance can generally be found chasing his six year old son around in a gorilla mask.
Missy, Customer Success Manager, is a mental health evangelist and a versed customer success professional. Missy has worked with scaling customer success organizations in high growth start ups for the majority of her career. She also runs a consulting practice from her home in northern Wisconsin with a focus on personal development, mindfulness, and career expansion.
Luyi, Software Engineer, comes from a mathematical background and has enjoyed building applications to connect users to services in the healthcare space. She has been interested in psychology since high school and is excited to be a part of the 7 Cups community. She also enjoys playing guitar and hiking.
Christine, Program Director, has over 25 years of experience in domestic and international health care management and leadership in the technology, non-profit, and governmental sectors. Right out of undergrad, she served as a Peace Corp volunteer in Benin, West Africa; the catalyst for her deep commitment to healthcare access and equity. When she is not traveling the world for work or pleasure, she can be found in Oakland, tending her garden and playing with her dog Aube.
Adam Laskowitz, Principal Designer, uncovers and creates the best solutions and experiences possible for all of our users. Starting off in Architecture and Fine Arts he quickly became a creative technologist at Intel, designing for future human-computer interactions with groundbreaking technology. Before joining 7 Cups he led a UX team at Target’s Innovation Center focused on bringing new smart home experiences to our everyday guests. In his down time, Adam plays the guitar, midi pads, and piano.
Christine, our Vice President of Sales, has over 15 years of sales, growth strategy, and leadership experience in emerging technologies and software. She is a tireless advocate for both her clients and colleagues, ensuring they receive the needed support and guidance for success and happiness. Christine is an intrepid traveler, but when not exploring she enjoys spending time with her cats, watching art-house films, reading classic literature, and cheering on her beloved White Sox.
Adrian, Director of Engineering, has spent his career growing technology startups spanning a handful of verticals, but he mysteriously keeps coming back to mission-driven healthcare. Most recently, he could be found at Navigating Cancer, working to enhance the lives and care of cancer patients across the nation. He lives near Seattle with an ever-growing collection of half-finished car, boat, and motorcycle projects.
Glen Moriarty, Founder and CEO, is a psychologist passionate about the Internet’s power to help people lead better lives. He has been involved in a number of services and organizations that support people in need. 7 Cups of Tea is his most recent endeavor; marrying his background in psychology with his love for technology. Glen lives with his wife, Nicole, and their four children, Colin, Madeliene, Avery, and London.
