Do You Think All Jobs Deserve the Same Respect

I feel there is 2 things at play in your question.   

I break down in 2 parts........ the Job and the Person doing the job. 

 Far too many people  give too much respect to a  job title or perception of the job........ without considering the person in that job ...... Some have not earned respect but claim it by a stereotype of job.   In my work experience some of the people i respected most were just average employees in various industries without a specific title or position...Some of the people I had zero respect for thought they could demand respect by a position or title.

IMO this is why some companies have changed job names to make it seem more respectful or important then it actually is.... Look at job sites where jobs have creative titles but actual work is rather monotonous.

I definitely think they deserve the same respect. Now we need every doctor on deck just as much as a cleaner, postman, accountant, psychologist - even an artist, fitness instructor, IT.. etc

All of those jobs fullfil different needs - health/medical, clean/enviromental, administrative, cultural, etc.

Now when it comes to the person doing the job as a previous commenter here mentioned - that is what depends in my opinion.

If its someone selfish and arrogant, overall a pain to be around in that job - as a worker, colleague, boss, those kind of people can't expect others to like them.

And unfortunately that respect os mostly derived from pay whcih varies greately due to several reasons, though still, respect for the occupation should stay the same and everyone is needed everywhere.

While I firmly believe that society will continue to always rank them and view/value some jobs higher and some others lower, I do not at all agree with that and I firmly believe that ALL jobs/workers should, deserve, and have earned the right to respected, valued, viewed, appreciated, etc bc regardless of where you’re working, what work you’re doing, how long you’re working, etc the fact is it’s still work! So all of it deserves a equal amount of respect, appreciation, value, etc.

I think every job should be given the same respect. Afterall everyone is just trying to earn and make a living, or provide for their families so why compare or judge?

Hey there,

That's an interesting question. And it is something not many people are ready to talk openly about. Here are my two cents:

• I think every person should be respected

• I think every job should be respected ... but I don't think that's necessarily going to be the "same"

• I think there is some respect required for skill and competence also.

• I also think there is some respect required for the amount of risk/responsibility someone shoulders.

That's a lot of moving parts already.. and I am sure there are more.
