Is there anywhere on this site for making friends?
I notice there’s a lot of older ppl on here, but I am wondering if there’s any place for making friends? I don’t really think the cat gifs and chicken gifs talking about positivity i see when I log in are helpful. Is there anywhere to talk about real issues?
@greendayfangirl
Hi nice to meet u
You can always join the 24/7 support and chat rooms to talk to people, everyone's really nice there and you can make friends too! pop in if u want I might see u there 💙
Just looked at your bio… What abomination is banana pizza????? Hehe
Hi. Im looking to make new friends
@greendayfangirl I agree. I am new here and have not figured out my place yet. I need a new friend. We should chat.
@Meowgirl27 ya I’m not really getting this site it’s honestly confusing. They say it’s for therapy but they also remove any way of socializing with people and censor so many links so it’s hard to share interests with ppl
I understand. I’m having a hard time finding the right spot for good conversation. Is there a way to chat with one person other than a listener?
@Meowgirl27 you can do so by opening a pen pal thread with the person who you want to talk to on the forum 😊
I do understand how they've kept so many restrictions here to chat and socialize with everyone and sometimes this app is the only way we know to feel less lonely and I think they take that away too. But you aren't alone in this. Even as a listener we do people to talk and be friends with. If you wanna be friends, just a message away!
@greendayfangirl hey there, yesss for both questions
For friends: play ice-breakers and games on the forum, and a lot of those interactions will result in friendships (like @tinywhisper11 or @jesusredeemedme2425 host a lot of them, they are the life of the party here)
For serious issues, make posts on related forums by clicking this (below a screenshot tutorial on how would you find a forum for ADHD)

That opens you the community menu where you can roll down the categories for sub communities you want to talk about. It can take a while for people to respond the a post, but there will be someone eventually getting to it. You can increase your chances of engagement and faster reply by building friendships in the icebreakers, and if you vibe with someone, most of us gradually builds a taglist of our friends we tag when making a post. Good luck to you, and an obligatory cat gif 😊

Awwww, I’m the life of the party??? Hehe
@jesusredeemedme2425 yesss 😊 you and tiny are the heart of this site 😁
Awww thank you! <3
What was it before us???? Lol
@jesusredeemedme2425 i wasn´t unfortunate enough to experience cups without tiny haha, you need to ask the real veterans here 😁
Awwww hehe! Tiny makes EVERYTHING better <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 we all just need a Tiny bit of magic in our lives 😁😁😁
@Tinywhisper11
Right??? <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 ❤️❤️❤️
@greendayfangirl Yeah, that’s a really valid feeling — it can definitely seem like a lot of the posts or group chats on 7 Cups stay surface-level or overly “positive,” when sometimes you just need a real space to talk about what’s actually going on.
There are a few ways to find more genuine connections there though:
Check out the listener/teen or young adult forums — those spaces usually have more people closer to your age who talk about things like school stress, relationships, mental health, and identity.
Join growth paths or subcommunities that match what you’re dealing with (like anxiety, depression, or relationships). The discussion threads there tend to go deeper.
Use 1-on-1 chats with listeners or members — it’s often easier to have real, vulnerable conversations privately than in the main feed.
And you’re right to crave authenticity. Positivity has its place, but sometimes you just need understanding — not more “it’ll get better” quotes. You’re not alone for wanting that.
Do you mean peers in their 20’s? Because I need some too. It would be especially useful to find people who are drowning in general and existential anxiety.
Yeahhhhh i want to make friends
