Restart
My main distraction is my phone and even if I am not on it I sleep, eat or just pass my time without studying a bit and what's most hurting is that my parents shows a lot of faith in me and they think I study for whole day in my room. I want to restart again.
What motivates me are people who actually work for their goal and are consistent and hard working. So can anyone tell me where can I find this kind of Peer group? Or any study group?
I want to know that how do you stay consistent, stay disciplined and avoid distractions like constant scrolling? ( I forgot to mention that mostly my classess are in online mode, so I can't switch it off and keep away). What routine do you follow that actually works?
@ElementalBeing01
I would ask my mum to look after my phone for me and not let me have it until I did x or by y time. It takes some courage to do that for some reason.
I know I can’t trust myself and it’s a real addiction so I have others help me manage it.
@Sharings
On top of that, working in a common area like the dining table worked for me. Somewhere I could be seen and monitored.
What possible approaches do you have on your mind?
Hi)
I think I understand because scrolling is my problem also. I often feel overwhelmed because of it but some years ago I had an insight — phone is just a tool. Because of it I can blindly follow social media algorithms or, for example, come here and discover myself more, people around the world, it helps me studying, wondering, it gives me esthtic pleasure when I listen music. I have a choice, you have either)))
I still love nature, life ballance, I'm very excited communicating with my dogs, touching my partner. Just tool, it doesn't have it's own will)
@ElementalBeing01 I have uninstalled *** and Youtube from my phone (I never had Tik Tok because i know myself and the danger that would be)😅 so that there is more of a resistance to open and start scrolling. Still, is difficult for almost everyone, so dont be too hard on yourself. The thing about consistency and discipline has more to do with habits than with actual motivation to do the things. Make yourself some kind of routine (doesnt have to be super rigid with hours and stuff, but also not super fluid that doenst give you any structure), give yourself small goals for each day or week and make a physical to do list to check off (its more satisfaying for the brain if you cross or check the things on paper than in the phone imo). For example, my usual studying routine used to be on the mornings, with a break in the middle for breakfast. I would count the pages i had to study in total, then divide it in the amount of days i had, so that i had to study 3 or 5 pages a day. Sometimes i did more, sometimes less. The thing is to try to show up consistently, make the habit
@VCCjusttalk Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking. If we build a habit and then practice it every day, even just for 15 minutes, it will create a positive result in the long run, I believe.I believe that by doing this, we will get a boost of motivation on our own as well.😄
