Strange Fitness Emotions!
Am I the only one that finds jogging/running kind of infuriating? 😅 I enjoyed getting out and about for health purposes when I was younger, but not anymore.
Anyway I just jogged for the first time in a while and it legitimately kind of upset me.
I wouldn't probably be too upset if I were in the house just lifting weights for an hour, but who knows anymore.
It might be worth noting that the pre-jog warm-ups practically made me hyperventilate, but my most recent exercise was indoors where I biked 30 minutes (no warm-up) with no issues. Like okay, so if I can bike for 30 minutes straight then why can't I jog for even a few minutes without stopping? 😑
@BusyBird
Sounds like you haven't run for a while, the body weight and impact from running is much tougher aerobically than indoor cycling, maybe try short walk run intervals. I've been running for years and walk/run intervals are still my main go to.
@RunningMachine Yeah I haven't done a proper jog or run in... a while. I also did gain a tiny bit of weight (not necessarily bad) which probably doesn't help. I truly think I had the most energy when I had a small body fat percentage. Less to carry.
I was thinking the same thing. I couldn't make myself keep going long anyway since I kept stopping to catch my breath. Panting like a dog the whole way. Funny you mention that you still do it in intervals because I used to think the goal was making it go on longer. When I was a teen I was able to jog 4 miles with NO breaks but it has been some time since then.
@BusyBird
I've ran ultra and marathons, 'jeffing' walk/run is a mainstay in ultras and also helps keep heart rate down on longer trainer runs to optimise fat burning.
@RunningMachine Ooh! So taking little breaks is actually better ^-^
@BusyBird
Definitely when you are getting back into running, it's useful way to maximise time on your feet for. Marathon/Ultra training especially if you are doing double long run days and it's uses by virtually all ultra runners.
I run daily and will Jeff 3-4 of them.
@BusyBird 👏👏👏
