Sudden jumps
This is simply my rant about suddenly experiencing becoming an adult
tl;dr = I am in my early twenties and I am struggling to not butn out within first year of having a job and not succumb to anxiety about managing finances which became a struggle despite my job paying well, realising that I was never prepared by the people around me and have to figure things out myself - which is fine, except every advice is appreciated and I feel incredibly lost what to focus on first while feeling like I am already falling behind.
So as most people here live trough it and most older adults are looking back at this - I recently have made a jump into adulthood.
The classic find a job, get a rental and.. Live on, get married, morgage, etc etc.
Well I have started a job this year, a corporate job in customer service over the phone as a technical support despite having no prior studies or experience, but I support customers from America so my english language was a great boon.
The job is not hard, colleagues are fun, yet.. After just 8 months I am already feeling the struggle and strain of personal life and enjoyement slipping just to keep up with my performance which is measured to the last 0.01% on an excel sheet.
And a top of that I was lucky enough to make enough money with my partner to move into our first apartment, only to, of course, experience some arguments and strain on finances.
Suppose the shift of being taken care of and taking care of myself is harsher than expected. I was always forces to be independent from a young age, yet I never got advice on how to manage finances or a personal life while keeping up with a job and a relationship.
I do not really have friends which would be able to assist or advise me as most of them live in different countries with different economies or generally are more busy with their loves just like I got once I got my own.
And while my job pays above average, it is still barely enough and I have to dip mutliple times into minus on my bank account just to manage until next paycheck..
And that is just buying the neccessities..
I suppose I feel confused and overwhelmed which I know is a feeling whi h is to be expected during these first steps, however as I said I have noone to talk to about this aside from my partner which is not exactly what I need as we are both living in the same situation. Having a third opinion and advise would make this feel lighter and like I am not alone or the only one (obviously not, but I assume you know what I mean)

You are firstly doing your best which is what matters most 🥰
There's no set timeline on these things.
We all learn as we go along and it's important to just do what works for you.
It can be hard paying bills, balancing the routine boring daily life chores, that are never ending 😁
But make sure to prioritise time for you and your partner to have fun, that's what's get you through.
Supporting each other 💜💖

Honestly I don't know what I would do without them and they don't know what they would do without me, so we always support each other and manage and tell each other that "now we know and we will handle next month better". It is just definitely harsher to handle than first expected
Thank you for the kind words I definitely am trying to get myself more in the focus and our shared future we plan on the go

A pleasure 💜

Most people have an adjustment, and many are not prepared for the things they will encounter.
Jobs and finances and running a household is a lot and can cause issues and problems with significant others. I wish i could tell you that you will get the hang of it, and all is fine but struggles and new items come up with every stage of life.
finances are hard because each of us have different priorities and incomes. i think sitting down and really sorting out what you want you can make a budget and a plan if partner is on baord it makes things so smoother.
