I’m in my mid twenties and in desperate need of friends who understand and have some humour. I try to take life’s challenges with (bad) humour but that’s not for everyone i know.
I’m this really chatty and talkative person but also incredibly anxious at times. Probably misdiagnosed anxiety disorder is the current diagnosis.
Whenever someone messages me I get so incredibly anxious and start overthinking (which generally is the wrong way to go for me) and get even more anxious so that I don’t text them back anymore but keep thinking about it. But I really want to have this special friend that totally gets me (and I them of course). Sooo I’m going all in now to change that.
Most people around me don’t get feeling anxious (I’m happy for them but still meh) and if they do that’s all we’re talking about. Nothing happy, nothing good, just anxiety and depression. To most people around me I seem like this very self confident and strong person which makes it difficult for many to understand my struggles every now and then. I sometimes feel with them like I’m not unwell enough - I would have to be a complete wreck before it is okay for me to struggle because I can obviously live a pretty damn good life as it is. As if you’re not allowed to be happy every now and then when you’re struggling. On the other side to those that get my struggle my life is too good and I’m not suffering enough.
And that’s what i wanna talk about - I wanna talk about life, the good and the bad, the pretty and ugly, thoughts, society, hobbies - I love diys of all sorts and keep getting more and more hobbies. Just started learning the kalimba. I am a giant nerd. Star Wars/Trek, Lotr, Marvel….. I’m currently painting a galaxy at the ceiling of one of my rooms. I pretty much listen to all genres of music but I’m quite partial to metal, punk pop, rock, jazz and funny enough one german singer (I’m german but dont usually like german music). I’m really into fashion, thrifting and historical stuff and I love video games (not very good at it but love it anyways).

I also know what you mean. I also struggle with social anxiety and sometimes I am not having anxiety at all which makes it difficult for someone to know or to recognize. So it is okay to have social anxiety.

isnt it just dumb that others can dictate what anxiety has to look like for you so that they can try to understand better?

One of my pet interests (I have autism) is the Holocaust. I devour every book I find on the subject! One of my coworkers lived through it.

A kalimba is this thing you play with your thumbs it has like metal rods and a wooden body. It’s also one of the few instruments you don’t have to be able to read sheet music 😅 I‘m very untalented when it comes to music but I though I give it a try and so far I like it 😁 what about you?
Well I loved the old marvel stuff the new stuff is sometimes too far from the original Comics to me. Just saw the second black panther this year it was nice good soundtrack too but that’s it 😅

book thrifting?! 😱 yes! Where I live there are like these cabinets on the streets were you can drop of your old books and swap them for others. I got some of my fav books from there 🥰 what do you read?
i don’t know anyone whose interested in like ww2 and the Holocaust 😊 kinda sad. My dad -so naturally me too- is really into that and how knowledge about it can help us to prevent something like that happening again. So yeah you and me will prooooobably be able to talk for hours about that topic 😁 do you know Eva Mozes Kor?
and N64 was the first thing I ever played! …not really actually cause my mom didn’t turn on the controller only told little me it is turned on and whenever Princess peach (we usually played Mario and I love Peach when I was little so I usually would „play“ her 😂) was rolled over by those giant rocks thats greeeeeat and means I’m (and Peach) are winning 😂 I was really sad when it broke. What do you play?

Ohhhh I thought it was a drum like a djembe and a cajon lol! I’m super untalented with music too. My singing teacher made fun of me for my deep singing voice (I’m a girl lol), so I decided instead of being teased by my teacher, I would take a C if she didn’t make me sing in front of people anymore. Also… I REALLY wanna learn drumming!!! I’ve dreamed about it all my life <3
I’ve never been really into Marvel, but I did like Doctor Strange (although it got creepy and dark lol!). I just finished (and fell in love with!) Enola Holmes 1 and 2. I just discovered Ready Player One and it’s SOOOO good and funny!!!

Yassss!!! Little Free Libraries!!! My fave <3 I used to read a ton of non-fiction, but my mental issues have made it easier/better for me to focus on fiction lately. I prefer historical fiction, especially about the Holocaust, as well as non-fiction that’s well-written and reads like a novel. I’m currently reading The Auschwitz Photographer (a true story) and Little Princes (also non-fiction but reads like a novel).
Yeah… I have coworkers who know little to nothing about the Holocaust. And they’re too young to really know anything about 9/11, Columbine, etc. How can we prevent these things from happening if they fade into oblivion? I know it’s not remotely similar, but it reminds me of writing in cursive (forgive my comparison!!!). Writing in cursive isn’t taught in schools anymore. Cursive probably won’t survive to the next generation. It’s the same with these historical events and life lessons… If no one tells them anymore, they’ll be gone. :(
Lol too funny XD I don’t own it anymore (And they cost $100s now!!!!). But I loved Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64 (both games were seriously unbeatable!!! Could never even make it past the first few challenges), Croc, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Yoshi’s Story, Jurassic World (Park? idk), Super Smash Bros, Crash Bandicoot, and more I forgot lol
