"old" amongst young people
I'm 24 years old and I can't seem to relate to the people around me. I just got back to college and all the people around me are younger, and they don't seem to wanna be friends with me. I do well in class, and I know a lot of things. So all the time, when people come up to me, I expect them to just ask me something about school, and all the time, they do. When I try to change the subject, they avoid going further and just want to talk about college stuff. I can't hangout with people anymore. I'm so used to being an answering machine that I can't socialize properly. But if I steer off from my usual response people won't talk to me.
@PattersonGuy 🙁 that's really sad. I get how hard it can be though, I live in a old folks nursing home, I'm 24 years old too. Luckily though the older folks here are really nice to me. Feeling alone is very hard, I'm sorry sweetie 🙁 I hope you make friends soon ❤ gives you a giant tiny hug ❤
That’s difficult. I live in a 55+ community right now and have low key hobbies so I feel older often, even though I’m 23
I'm so sorry. I'm 24 too and got out of college and im so lost and considering getting back in. In my master's degree i just did, i was the youngest in the class. Some classes have people that have kids my age. But i feel like no matter the age, people don't socialise. Especially with us zillenials. We're at a real hard age. Im sure you're great and they're missing out. Even at school all socialising with ppl my age was about homework. In my master's degree,, people acted like I don't exist. It's heartbreaking. We're figuring out so much at this age, we are vulnerable, we are breaking generational curses. Since covid most friends are made online, ppl got even worse at communicating. But hey you're in university - there might be clubs or activities with more welcoming people. Also it's about the right people. My best friend in university was 27 when i was 22. Good luck and keep us updated. And don't forget your self-worth!
@PattersonGuyyou and me both. I am 27 and everyone my age is already done with college and I am planning to go back to college. I cannot tell you how hard it is.
