A rather sad day
My dad passed away just about three weeks ago. He was in his early 60s, so young by today's standards. Though never healthy he was vibrant and charismatic and his death leaves a gaping void. He was a man of many contradictions - often quite difficult to deal with on simple things but nonetheless, absolutely overflowing with love, compassion and forgiveness for all of humanity. Messages and phone calls are drying up now and a shaky return to routine is being attempted. The initial shock and the waves of grief phases are lessened and have emerged into an all-around sadness. Among the people who so check in is a fairly toxic person whom I am making myself respond to out of respect for her concern but who I would prefer to have no contact with. There is no specific need or problem I'm expressing here, just a check in. In short, things are feeling rather sad. Thank you for reading and all the best to you.
I can understand truthfully. Its been less than a year here for me. It wont get "easier" but you DO find little ways to help you cope. Along the lones of toxicity though. You do NOT have to feel guilty for cutting someone off even if theyre family. I had to cut off that whole side of his family. Theyre all toxic and horrible fake ppl with terrible secrets. I am now living a better adjusted life and while my kids dont understand yet they are too.
@lamblu this was so helpful to read today, thank you so much. It helps to know others understand. And in your own journey it sounds as if you are doing the right and strong thing, even if it wasn't easy. I give you so much praise for that.
I’m so sorry to hear this, I’m sending strength your way. I’m here if you’re ever at odds and need someone to talk to.
