Manipulation
I strongly believe that my ex is trying to emotionally manipulate me. I'd rather not share too many details about our original break up although I know this is a safe space. But I am very, deeply upset by a series of conversations that took place today. There really isn't a need for exes to even be in contact in many cases but because we kept running into each other repeatedly over several years after splitting, we decided to bury the hatchet and be friendly. It always feels like walking on eggshells but we've avoided any trouble. Until now. He made a couple of big speeches about wanting to be there for me after a loss, was very kind for a bit, then suddenly sent me a playlist that was almost half full of tortured love songs, claiming it was a list to help me heal. When I asked him about it, carefully using therapist-recommended language tools (since it is a touchy situation) he laughed it off and said I thought too much. I didn't accept the dig but did accept the fact that he meant nothing because I'm not up for a confrontation nor interested in pursuing the matter. But then he made an explicit come on. Then pulled back and laughed it off again, then got explicit again, and so on until he went silent (this was via text). Obviously this isn't a good relationship to have. The trouble is, we will keep running into each other. So I can't cut it off abruptly, I have to directly deal with it. And I am very convinced in the heat of this moment of manipulation. I stress ate, which I haven't done in 6 weeks, and I haven't been able to calm down for hours. Thank you for listening.
It sure sounds like he’s manipulating you like you think, especially since you have a past and this is a different approach for him.. not good you can’t calm down, sounds like you know what you have to do unless he comes around ASAP. Deal with him like you said in person it’s the best way.
@DanielJM Thank you for taking a moment to reach out to me. It meant a lot to read some encouragement. What you say is quite helpful and again, thank you so much.
You’re welcome. Best of luck to you
