Sometimes we take those we love for granted. Have you told her this? I’m sure she would appreciate it. Or if you don’t feel like saying this out loud, you could make a conscious effort to be nicer to her so that she sees it in your actions, not only your words. I think just realizing you wanting to treat her better is a great first step so don’t beat yourself up over it!
