Hi, I'm new here, so hello first of all.

Does anyone here experience anxiety about the future? What it holds, what might happen to you etc? It's something I'm struggling with at the moment so would love to hear from you.

Thank you.

@Flash21 Hi Flash! I hope you are doing well. Welcome to 7 Cups ❤️ I think a lot of people have anxiety about the future! They say that anxiety is worrying about the future and depression is being stuck in the past. I think worrying is a part of life, but worrying never really solved anything. It's good to have a little stress to keep us motivated, but not to the point where it interferes with daily functioning. As long as you are trying your best to have a great future, that's all you can control. The universe has a plan for us all and everything works out the way it's supposed to. Try to stay busy and do what makes you happy. I am thinking of you!

@Flash21 That's totally understandable! Not knowing how the future will turn out can definitely be a cause of stress! Make sure you do things that make you happy and are fun! My day is going well! How is yours going? ❤️

@Flash21 Hi Flash. I can relate to this feeling. Anxiety can be paralyzing at times for me. Over time, as i have started to recognize it more and more, it has lessened in effect it has on me. The worry about the future is something that is inevitable. Although we can find ways to manage our anxieties that are compatible with the situation. Hope you find your own ways to overcome anxiety.

@Flash21 You don't need to argue with them, because it's just that you did something they thought you should do but couldn't calm down, so they feel uncomfortable and want to pull you back. Don't even think about changing them. After you persist for a while and change, they will naturally learn from you.

@Flash21 Sending a warm welcome!

I feel that at times if not most. Trying to live in the present and what I gotta do now helps with the anxiety when I remember to practice it. 😊

@RelicCube hello and thank you! You're right - live in the moment before it's gone. It's hard sometimes but it's always worth trying.

@Flash21

My dad used to say "to live in fear is not to live at all", I understand that is one way to look at it, my sister says "in a million years none of this will matter" We all have those thoughts and we all must push on-wards - humanity is all very brave, we all must live life to the fullest and help others all along the way. Try to think 1 minute ahead, it can be a challenge :-)

Sending strength and courage!!!

Blessings, Day

@juliak1968 that quote is very apt. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who has anxiety about this. I'd prefer to be living rather than worrying so I'll try that 1 minute ahead approach. Thank you!

@Flash21

You're very welcome!

Have you tried any art drawing or poem writing? I do both as a healthy distraction, would you like to see a drawing I made?

Blessings, Day

Hello @juliak1968 😊

I occasionally try a bit of sketching but haven't tried poetry or writing. I'd love to see one of your drawings!

Thank you.

@Flash21 That is understandable, I sometime worry about the future. As long as you do not always worry about future because it may make us unhappy and affect our current life. Just try your best do anything you should do. I think that is enough. Maybe it is hard, but finally I believe we can do it better.

@Flash21

It is human nature to wonder and worry about the future. But it detracts from living in the present and enjoying one simple day at a time. No one can plan or predict the future and it will most likely evolve in ways that you never thought possible. There is so much good ahead as well as difficulties. Live for right now and my aim every day, is to simply get to the end of the day and know that i have tried my best. That is enough for me. What will be will be and worrying only deprives you of the present. Deal with the future when it arrives and live for each and every single moment as it unfolds.

@sooty41 you are so right. I can see that when I feel "normal" but I very often forget it when anxiety takes over. I shall follow your advice, thank you.

@Flash21

It is not easy, but all that truly exists for any of us is this very minute....the minute my fingers tap the keys...that's all there is. The future will unfold as it will. And never have any regrets because you have savoured every minute and lived as purposefully as you can.

Yes, I also struggle with anxiety. The best medicine is a good distraction even when one is sometimes difficult to find. Nature helps as well as video games when the weather is not so nice. Music and talking to peers also helps.

@transurvivor thank you for replying. Distraction is great but I often find it difficult to get started. I do like getting outside for walks though.
