Ideas to Stay Safe:

1. Ice cream/sorbet/sherbet/gelato! Add to coffee, morning scone or pastry, or spoon straight from container. *Bonus tip: choosing a cup over a cone will allow one to enjoy without it dripping

2. Movie theatre! *Bonus tip: Bring/wear a long sleeve and close-toed shoes and make sure you're not too hungry before going; their food options are usually quite expensive and not very filling.

3. Fans! So many options! Handheld, battery powered, hand powered, different colours, misting options! Here's a custom vintage printed one, and a link in case you're interested: https://www.imprint5.com/full-color-custom-retro-folding-bamboo-hand-fan-8-25-l.html?ff=1&fp=16093&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwhb60BhClARIsABGGtw99T1ydiqTFfYNaxsVY4jVsacgJxP2qQBZ2MHesVbvH-U0Z4mfz84QaAtZYEALw_wcB

4. Shade jumping! Puddles are so last season.  *Bonus tip: Look both ways before you cross the street and bring an umbrella (Only basics use them just for the rain.)

5. Going into restaurants that sell booze! A licensed establishment must also serve people water by law. I was melting walking home once. A place on the way let me sit, drink ice water and rest until the hectic lobster red colour faded from my skin. *Bonus tip: people like helping others...most people/places will give some water because of that, not because it's law!

6. Cool showers or cool water! Running cool water over ones wrists can carry that cooled blood throughout the whole body. The back of the neck is sensitive too: wet a bandana and wear it around your neck or wrist. There's also bandanas that contain absorbent beads sewn in. *Bonus tip: If swimming or wading remember the water reflects sunlight up onto your face and body like a magnifying glass

7. Night Owl and Early Bird! Enjoy nature late at night or early in the morning when the heat has had time to dissipate. *Bonus tip: painting dark pavement or walls, or wearing white or a light shade will repel sunlight and prevent it from soaking into the pavement/walls/body. Also, sunscreen! Every day! Even when cloudy! Even in winter! It's the UV that damages, not the sun light.

8. For doggie owners! When the back of your hand can't comfortably rest on the walking surface for four seconds, it's too hot for paws 🐾 🧐 🔥
