How to make friends?
How do you make friends? Does anyone have tips they have found useful or personal experience they can share?

I will appreciate your ideas about finding a lifelong friend.
@freshPing42 I think it's random. For example, if only one in a thousand people can be your lifelong friend, then you might have to be friendly towards a few thousand people so that you can hope to find one lifelong friend. But maybe it isn't one in a thousand. Maybe it's one in a hundred. I don't know 🤔

I am in the same place. How do you make friends as an adult. I have gotten all sorts of suggestions but they seem to be step one not the whole process. Suggestions like.
Join a Club, Talk to people at the stores where you shop.
If all it took was talking to someone i would make several hundred new friends every week. It comes down to what do you have to offer as a friend. That is where I come up short...
@Gettingbettertoday @freshping42 Yes, opportunity and proximity are good ways to meet people. I think another key is that you have something in common. For instance, if you like books, hangout at your local library and join an adult book club. If you have a hobby or like a certain sport, look for meet-ups or clubs near you. Could you plan to have a movie night, with popcorn, and invite some neighbors that live nearby? It may take a little creativity, too.
It is also important to remember that making friends and having relationships with others is not a sprint, more like a marathon or a long journey. So, we often have to keep putting ourselves out there, keep reaching out, and keep the conversations going.
During the pandemic, when everything was shut-down, it was quite isolating for many people. I have found that personally, during that time, I was mostly in survival mode, caring for my own family, and I ignored or put-to-the-side many of my friendships. As a result of that, some of us have gotten out of the habit of staying in touch. All that to say - it is not easy!!!
