If someone offered you a pill and said "You will lose you memory of bad things that happened to you, you will forget about relationships and people that hurt you, and you will get to start a new life somewhere else without those memories" would you take that pill?

No, because all the bad things that happened to me, all the trauma I went through shaped me into the person I am today, and I wouldn't change that for anything.

Its been interesting reading these answers. I need to clarify that you'll only forget about the relationships and people that hurt you.

@zeetee17 I wouldnt I have no bitterness to whatever happened to me, I still see life as good it taught me everything. Sure I did had my share of angers but it tamed down through time I wont even change my past because everything is connected, who knows if I didnt gone thru it all I would have been a spoiled brat. I dont want to erase the memory of my only one past relationship either it was a fun rollercoaster ride of emotions, sure it was painful and all chaos but damn did I ever felt so alive. I dont know but I see it all differently and positively maybe? I dont blame anyone in life nor the situations or life itself, by being responsible to your emotions and actions is where one can live to the fullest. My present is better I handle things well now and me and my ex are friends life is good without bitterness.

@zeetee17 Repressed trauma is still trauma. All forgetting does is push the pain to the background. After a long enough period of time, that trauma blends into the environment, and what was once obviously a result of the trauma becomes truth and reality.
