What would you do?

If someone offered you a pill and said "You will lose you memory of bad things that happened to you, you will forget about relationships and people that hurt you, and you will get to start a new life somewhere else without those memories" would you take that pill?

no because I'll forget about how i hurt people and I'll make the same mistakes.

@zeetee17 no, no I wouldn't. I've learned a lot from being screwed over, and it's my choice to heal with those memories. I can't avoid a problem that I don't remember

No. I suffer with this thing called dissociative amnesia, I don't remember the first 12 years of my life (it is normal for people to not remember much of their first couple years, but I hardly have any memories before the age of 12), and 12 years old was not too long ago for me. I have childhood trauma and as a coping mechanism, I would convince myself something didn't happen, and then I would just forget about it. Yeah, I don't remember much of the bad stuff, but I missed out on a childhood and don't remember the good parts of it. There's good stuff that will come from the bad, it will get better, the hard parts make you stronger and it becomes a part of yourself.

@zeetee17

I don’t think I’d take it. Because I feel like every bad or good thing that happens to us in life makes us the people we’re. The experiences we go through help us in the long run and understand what went wrong and good to help us in the future to know what we should and shouldn’t do without having those bad memories we wouldn’t learn from our mistakes. We need those mistakes so we become better people and can do better in the future. This was a really good question though.

@zeetee17

no because then I’d just have to start over, feel that pain fresh and learn the lessons again. I’ll keep my wisdom, pain and all.

@zeetee17 No i wouldn't take the pill. As i would forget what cause me the pain and will allow the same thing to hurt me again and again
