how do you deal with the death of a loved one?

I just lost my granny in October of 2025.  This was almost a year ago.  She was like a mother to me and more of a mother than my own mother was.  I lost my mother in December of 2004.  My granny was always telling me things that I should have listened to about life.  One day I told her that I wish I would have listened to her many years ago.  She just wanted the best for me.  I was her first grandson and she let it slip one day that I was her favorite.

She left me a nice chunk of money.  What did I do with it?  It's all gone now.  Most of the money went to drugs.  I was smoking meth for three years.  Today I am two weeks clean!

I didn't go to the funeral.  I didn't go to the funeral when my mom died.  I was in prison at the time in another state.  When my granny died in October of 2025, i told the family that i wasn't going to the funeral and wanted to be left alone.  i don't have anything left now.  i don't have anyone i can turn to to perhaps just talk.

i'm lost, i really am.  i don't know how to pick up and move on.  right now i don't have a job.  i will soon be in danger of losing my apartment if something doesn't happen soon.  i quit my job about 6 months ago when the laundromat i worked in got sold.  the new owners were and still are nothing but trash.  i had worked at the laundromat for 13 years!  that was the longest job i've ever had.  now i have nothing!

@adventurousHemlock5271 When we are at our lowest, the only way to go is up. Start to make amends in your life and your habits for the better. And, this will be one of the best ways to honor the memoery of your Granny.

Good to know you are 2 weeks clean of meth. Clean yourself of all bad habits. Change has to happen Now before you lose everything else.  Once you decide to rid yourself of such things, your mind will be able to focus on things which are important to you. Get up and get going! I wish you the best.

@adventurousHemlock5271 The fact that you shared your story is indication that you desire change, which is good. Being clean for 2 weeks is another step in the right direction. You need to hold on to that desire and work hard to keep focused on seeing your life move in a different direction. The direction you stir it is entirely up to you.  Watch your associates both virtual and physical, learn from people who have overcome just like you. Getting a job is critical at this stage though, so you can feed well and focus on that change we've highlighted! All the best bro.
