I have recently started a relationship 2 yrs ago after being single for many years. I struggle with anxious attachment and have noticed he has an avoidant attachment.

We are expecting! 🤰 but also things have been rough .

i told him I have been learning and reading about it and suggested for him to read about it as well.

today he said he learned that a lot of it resembles him.

has anybody worked thru an anxious-avoidant relationship?

Hi Forceful,

I read your post and began to read up on anxious-avoidant relationship and in some ways relate to what your going through.

Attachment styles can sometimes not explain alot in a relationship. there is 4 types of aatachment styles each defining different things. the one your speaking of is when a person is nervous or stressed in a rleationship. it is where you need reassurance and affection from a partner.

I fall in this one and try to keep an open conversation with my boyfriend and write in a journal, because he knows my words come out better on paper than when I talk.

If you would like to go chat where I can help you more please feel free to PM me and we can discuss it and maybe help by providing links for you to read.

Creating a secure attachment style can be done by increasing your self-worth and setting/maintaining healthy boundaries.

If you’re in a relationship that’s unstable it can lead to an anxious attachment style. So looking out for your needs and setting boundaries on how you would like to be treated is key to building trust within the relationship which leads to less anxiety related to the relationship.
