At my big age, I've never had a real long-term relationship

The last guy I talked to seemed respectable. He's attractive, 37, and an engineer. But within a few lines he had announced that he stopped paying his mortgage and lost his house, he has a failed business overseas, he lives with his brother, has a 6-year-old child, and he doesn't have a job in his field and drives Uber for now. Then he gave me his number. I wished him well on his job search but I didn't call him. I'm told that I'm too picky. Is this being too picky? I don't even know anymore. Am I supposed to feel guilty for not calling him? I just saw a mountain of red flags.

@blindbobw what exactly are those red flags? From your description I can see:

- a man who is honest about his situation (he could have lied to you or avoid those topics)

- a man who takes risks (starting a business overseas)

- a man who gets his hands dirty if necessary (working on an uber, despite of it not being his ideal job at all)

- a man who has a good relationship with his brother (since he let him stay with him)

He is in a tough situation and is trying to recover from it. Don't confuse red flags with going through difficult times.
