Breakups/Relationships
Hi. I’m new here. A little about myself. I’m 49 and divorced. I have been single 9 years now. I have attempted new relationships with men 4 times on those 9 years. My ex left me for a younger woman. Each of the 4 guys I have dated has ended it with me after 2-3 months. The most recent was a few days ago. I was single for 2 years prior to this. He broke up with me Friday. Told me how amazing and badass I am but he couldn’t give the relationship the time it needed. I’m questioning why I’m not worth trying to stay with. I was with my ex husband 23 years. Can anyone shed light on what I’m doing wrong?

Oh, poor you! All that hurt and disappointment of rejection again. I can understand why you might think there must be something wrong with you. It's such a blow to the self esteem, no wonder you are feeling bad.
But you are you! There's nothing wrong with you. Your ex said it was him - he doesn't have time for you. Do you want to be with someone who says they don't have time for you? I think you deserve better. Maybe this is an opportunity to consider what you want from a partner, as well as what they want from you?
But it's OK to take the time to grieve and feel sad. Something you wanted has ended, it would be normal to feel a sense of loss and loneliness. It's great that you reached out to share. No one needs to be alone here. I'm sorry this has happened to you. It'll take time to get over. But remember, someone described you as amazing. Believe it, you are!
All the best.
Hello,
I’m new to this website to I’m still trying to get the hang of it and see how I can do to post what I’m going through but i haven’t had the chance as of yet. I’m so sorry what you are going through, i read your posting and let me tell you that I’m going through the exact same situation you are. I don’t know what is going on or why the guys I meet just be with me for a minute and all of the sudden they intend to disappeared. Let me tell you something that it’s not us women that something is wrong it’s actually them it could be that they are just trying a romance not something serious so that is why they leave afterwards. I ask the same question to myself why do i meet guys that I really like and afterwards they leave so I’m sour of confuse and ask myself could iI be ugly I’m I doing something wrong that might be scaring them away.
And as far as this point I still ask myself the same question over and over again. But what you might want to do because I’m trying to do this to, try to meet guys and just get to know them better ask them at first what they are really looking for do they want to be just friends or do they want serious relationships. I know its hard for guys to open up but it’s never worth a try to ask them, now if they don’t want to say anything to you just try to just be friends. I don’t know if you actually get to know them before you go into a relationship with them, but sometimes when you rush things they don’t work out like we want them to. Just please don’t hurt yourself even more with this go slow if you are looking for a relationship which i understand most women do need one because we intend to feel very lonely I feel the same way right now.
Just give yourself some time to meet new people everyone’s circumstances are different I know that we might not know each other but I’m here if you need a friend or just some advice at certain point. I might not be in the best terms myself either but we can try to help one another out when we most need it. I wish you the best on everything take care.
I’m so sorry for what you’ve gone through. I’m also 49, and over the past several months I’ve learned that my wife is done with me. Apparently she’d known this for almost a year before she told me, and she’d been testing the waters for a while as well. All of this has been so hard to figure out, and I definitely have felt like I must have done things to make her want to leave. But I’m starting to understand that, however imperfect I may be, trying to hold on to someone who doesn’t want to (or can’t) be with you is a way of punishing yourself. For the first few weeks after my wife told me she was done, I searched desperately for answers to try to make sense of it. The lack of detail in what she was telling me left me feeling like it was my job to figure it out. And my inability to get her to care about me or our relationship left me feeling like I had been doing things all wrong. In the past couple months, I’ve gone from desperately wanting her back to realizing I shouldn’t (and hopefully wouldn’t) take her back if she begged me. I don’t assume I’m doing anything wrong, though I do try to continually improve myself. I think I understand now that my wife has had her own demons and unresolved issues, and I really hope she can work everything out for herself. But it won’t be for me, and it’s not my responsibility to help her do that. Sometimes people just need different things. I hope you don’t waste any more time than absolutely necessary with people who don’t want the wonderful things you have to offer.
