Feeling a bit bad

I apologized to my father for any disrespect I have done in the past. His answer was, “O.k.” And then a minute later said, “Your sister never disrespected me. She some how knows.”
She is not sister by blood nor is she adopted. Not sure what’s the deal there. It’s weird. But, for some reason he has been comparing me to her. How she does things better. Says things better. I don’t understand why he does this.

I think it's unfair to compare you with your sister.
Comparison can be very harmful. So, I am sorry that you have to experience that from a parent.
Regardless of the response, it was a great step forward to apologize.

Your sister and my cousin Lisa are better than us, I guess 😄 I used to hear, "Why can't you be more like your cousin Lisa" all the tie when was a lil pea. Gee Mom, I guess I just suck 🤷♀️

@Improving2 its commendable that you apologize first. if im able to do that, i'd imagine apologizing first means i have nothing against him anymore. and if he feels unsatisfied with that then he has something against me. and that is his problem to deal with. then again, i cant say what i imagined applies to you. if i'm able to do what you do, i would have like it if im able to focus on my goals and being a better person. me saying this to you, as just as much as a reminder to myself how id wanted to be a better person. i feel like the more i grow up, the more i find it hard to ask for an apology. im used to being misunderstood and blamed. so when i do wrong, its hard to tell. ended up blaming someone else. if i hear those words said to me, id be self-sabotaging all over again. i hope you dont have to pay any mind to what he said. to me, you're taking steps in being better than you were, and you try to reach out to your dad. he's just not used to it yet. i hope this helps, and tell me if its not. id like to know if what i said has other different perspectives im missing.
