Life crisis anyone?
Hey everyone. Am I in the right place for the maladjusted 30somethings dance? So all my friends are getting married, having babies and buying big houses. I spend my weekends sat in a chair with the curtains drawn often eating food labelled 'to share'. So what else is new? Any coping strategies?
Hi @Oblomov1990 - I can definitely relate! It's been hard watching my friends get married while I continue down my own solitary path. I used to feel independent, but once my 30s hit I started to feel like something was missing. It helped me to get involved with my community and put myself out there. It's helped to start exploring potential hobbies as well. But I am still trying to figure it out. Sending you support 💜

There are a number of studies emerging that people are happier without children. But you know what? That's besides the point. They have babies, and they buy houses. And they seem to be happy doing it. But it's not because their families are growing, or because they now have more STUFF. It's because they strive for things! Simply by wanting something in their life, and pursuing something, they moved forward. Their lives didn't stagnate. They grew as people! And eventually, at a certain stage in your life (usually towards the middle) you become conscious of your growth, you take stock of where you've been and what you've achieved.
If your life feels stagnant, change your habits. Break the daily grind. Change something. Do something! ANYTHING. Start walking daily. Call someone up and do something you wouldn't normally do. Challenge yourself somehow. Its in striving for something that we grow... So strive for things! ANYTHING. Even if its something completely mundane. It doesn't have to be babies & houses. No one said your ambitions have to be grand or noble. Set your own goals, and define your own growth. But get out of your comfort zone, because that's where stagnation thrives. Don't hide from your life. LIVE IT!
JUST. DO. IT.
