Lonesome

cant shake the loneliness this past week. I don’t have friends and I spend all my time by myself. My depression has been really bad to the point of just wanting to not stick around anymore and I have no one to talk to or spend time with to get away from this feeling

If you truly have no one to talk to or hang out with, then I would suggest finding a hobby or activity that will put you around other people. For me, I go to a jiu-jitsu class once a week. I might start going more often than that even. It's exercise and I get to meet nice people.

Find something where you can share experiences with others. Even if the experience seems inconsequential, it still feels better to be around people and share an interest. It will take courage and motivation at first to get comfortable going out. There were many times where I felt like I didn't know what I was doing and I would save myself embarrassment by not going, but you have to push through that. I hope you find the healthy friendships you're looking for.

Best wishes, Cain

There’s a lot here to offer you to get out of loneliness. Talk to listeners, reach out to counselors/therapists, join group chats/discussions, start your personal growth path, read relevant posts, etc. Start with something, something will take you somewhere. All the best for you.

@GreenbeeThe Although the OP is over two weeks old, it's not too late to chime in...

Loneliness, as I've said before, is a state of mind, a manifestation of our thoughts: it's the mind's way of telling us that no one knows us better (or at least as good as) we know ourselves. Certain circumstances in our lives (e.g., a tumultuous or deficient upbringing, divergent paths from former friends) might cause some to seek validation from others, but even if we found one person who resembled the best confidante we ever knew, the thrill is not going to last. In fact, it's only going to lead to dependent behavior and feelings akin to withdrawal symptoms, or perhaps a crisis of belief/faith...in other words, more suffering.

It's also important to make the contrast between "alone" vs. "lonely". Earth is nearing a population count of 8 billion as of this writing, and anyone reading this likely either has (or has easy access to) mobile or desktop internet. I read somewhere that almost 2/3 of the world's population is connected; so, if you live in a lonesome, uncultured, asocial area and have no other venue for communication apart from the internet, there's always going to be opportunities for civil discourse 24/7.

Simply put, our thoughts don't dictate what our reality is - they're merely an interpretation of it. And it would be safe to say that there's nearly eight billion unique interpretations.

@Greenbee You are in the same boat as many of us loneliness is tuff I think it is not a cure all but do what is in your heart and gets you excited you can still feel lonely in a group of people but if you have a focus what you might enjoy if you like music and of age you might check out a music venue you have the music as your goal and who knows who might approach you and say hi

@Greenbee

You’re not alone in this. I may not understand exactly how you feel, but I care about you and want to help. Asking for help is a sign of strength. Have you talked to your doctor about this? I’m here for you. Whenever you want to talk, I’ll listen — I’m just a call or a text away. Depression is a real health issue that can be treated. What steps can you take to talk to a doctor or counselor about how you’re feeling? What can I do to support you? I used to be also lonely, maybe you can find friends on internetif you do not want to communicate in real person. It is more easier to talk everything out on internet. You can find friends on social medias that have the same personality as yours. Therefore, do not feel lonely, there will always be people that supports you on this planet.
