Moving on
I'm thinking leaving my family because they have abuse me in the past. I have money now but I'm worried about their well-being and safety.i have only told my therapists, what should I do, should I I leave or go?
@descrymirare- I cannot tell you what is best for you. Only you can make that decision.
If you are thinking of leaving, I'm sure you have good reasons for doing so, especially if you are feeling unsafe in your current home. It is really nice and caring of you to be concerned about how your family members might react - but their opinion is not the only voice that matters. It is also important to consider your own mental health, as well.
I hope that whatever decision you make, that you can trust yourself to make the best one for you.
I wish you the best on your life journey! - Purple
If they abused you, then you are not beholden to them. They didn't have your well being in mind when they should have. I was abused by a friend who was our baby sitter when I was 4. I wanted to be his friend still because our family was friends with his. When I finally found help with my problem I was told that too. I feel free.
@creativeFaith8688 Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm sorry you went through that when you were so young! Im really glad that you were able to move forward and find healing. Freedom is a beautiful thing when you find it.
@descrymirare inbox me love to here for you 💗
@descrymirare
its great you feel more stable to leave.
I’m airport always is advice put parent oxygen mask first to yourself then kid in other to help.
If you still feel abuse and it doesn’t change you could leave, become stronger and find safer place for rest of your family.
As well you could get to know outside resources to help others or report.
This is not easy question to answer, you need consider all advantages and disadvantages and how to make the situation better.
Thanks for sharing, remember ABUSE NEVER SHOULD BE SILENT what most of the time are.
Good luck with decision making.
Hey @descrymirare, I can relate to coming from an abusive household. I ended up leaving at 18 years old. I used to feel bad leaving them, since my parents are elderly, but everytime I try to contact them, I deal with verbal abuse (they can't physically abuse me anymore, since I'm bigger and stronger now compared to them).
For my own mental health, I cut them out of my life.
Ultimately, it is up to you on what you want to do.
Some people use methods such as "Grey rock" if they HAVE to have contact with their abusers. Basically, be as boring as possible, give vague answers, etc so the abuser doesn't bother you much.
I HIGHLY recommend going to domestic violence support groups. The hosts have a wealth of knowledge about the subject about abusers and how to navigate those types of issues in life. You could try by calling, messaging, or texting a domestic violence hotline for additional assistance.
I have a DV support group session today I'll be attending soon.
I've dealt with abuse from my family and ex fiancé, so it's taking a bit of time for me to heal, but all the aforementioned have been cut out of my life.

- If you feel comfortable living alone, you can do so, and support your family from afar (like financially helping them and stuff, keeping check through calls) Think about it wisely and make a decision. You know best!
