OTC vitamins or supplements
I am been thinking of taking something for my anxiety and depression. I am not ready to go home with psych meds because in the past my husband was not supportive and it actually gave me more anxiety having to deal with him talking about me getting "addicted" to prozac (20yrs ago) and other stupid statements. I just deal with this on my own.

Hi J1K,
You can google or ask your Doctor which is better.
I can't say about depression as I only have anxiety but a few otc ones I've read about and tried are calm aid which is a lavender capsule. Didn't work for me at least my level of anxiety but I've also heard of and tried ashwagandha. Both of which I talked to my provider before starting.
I am however taking meds currently, everyone is different so what hasn't worked for me may work for you. I was able to take a genesight test to see which meds would even work for my body. I've tried several under the guidence of my prescriber. Some meds that I've been put on that are considered more "non addictive or non habit forming" are vistaril and buspirone. Might be something worth looking into and doing your own research, talking to your doctor about.
The current med I am on that I found helps me I won't be mentioning as it is considered to be the addictive type. But I hope this helps. Do your own research, see what sounds like it might work for you and even talk with your doctor about their thoughts on what they might suggest.
