Things best left unsaid
Why do some people feel the need to preach their own narrative at you rather than simply reach out in encouragement? If I'm not doing anything harmful but just think differently - and, in fact, am practicing optimism and positivity - why try to bring me into your worldview? Particularly at a time of crisis, as I'm walking through now? Is posting a positive quote from Buddha that inspired me (which I did) really something that I need to receive a text from my uncle about, trying to turn me in a different direction? I'd say no, right? A bit miffed at the moment, though I know I'll get over it because it was well-intentioned.

Thank you for sharing. I understand and agree with your point of view - I probably wouldn't even be as understanding as you are. I am proud of you for finding good ways to support yourself and to find what is good for you. You are safe here and I'm sad to hear that someone takes your struggle as an opportunity to control you. Sometimes, it is best to look at a situation, take what you can from it that will help you grow, and leave the rest.
I'm not sure your uncle is contributing much to this situation, so maybe just leave the comment behind?
I know, easier said than done but it does get better with practice.
