Newbie
Hi everyone. I'm a 38 year old woman who has been dealing with anxiety for years until I was finally dx recently. I had a therapist for a brief time but it felt like I was just talking and getting nothing from them. I have really been struggling with my anxiety lately as I'm starting a new job soon and this opportunity is massive for me. It's a big shift in my life and I really don't want my anxiety to screw up my future. I'm feeling excited, nervous and very anxious about learning an entirely new role in a sector I have almost 0 experience in. Any advice or strategies to help would be appreciated.
Hello decisiveDog,
First, congratulations on your new career opportunity! Secondly, it’s normal to be anxious about a new job, so don’t be too hard on yourself. You may want to try visualizing yourself being successful in the new position, and maybe buy some new clothes or get a new hair style—anything to help you adopt a positive mindset about the new job and foster feelings of excitement.
Wishing you great success on your new career!
Thanks so much! I'm actually getting my hair cut tomorrow and bought myself some clothes recently. I'm on my final 7 working days of my current job and am glad to changing my career path, but nerves and my thoughts keep nagging at me. I’m wondering if I should talk to my Dr about trying meds? It feels like my brain is constantly 'on'.
I'm on anxiety medication. Its helped me.
